Default "The Fifth Element" disc exchange

Please see below for the contact information to exchange your original copy of "The Fifth Element". The new disc can be easily identified by the additional information on the top edge of the disc which states "BD RMSTRD".

Our customer service department has been notified about this program and will assist you. Please be patient if you cannot get through right away (this sort of program is out of the ordinary), or better still, use email as the phone lines may be very busy for the first day or so.

Phone: 800-860-2878
Email: consumer@sphecustomersupport.sony.com

Glad to see this happening. Being the collector that I am however, I'll be keeping mine. The new version will be purchased though as my wife and I just adore this movie and will want to see it look even slicker.

Like Paidgeek said, this might take a little time to trickle down to all support associates.

Great news, thanks for this paidgeek.

I just sent in my email. We'll see if that works better than the phone number.

Smile Sony is great!

Although I don't have to exchange one, this is a wonderful gesture.

I can't wait to buy this remaster title next month.

Default confused about the remastered?

ok someone please help me out here. so yes they are going to release a remastered fifth element. instead of being a 25 gig bd its going to be a 50 gig bd, with more bells. so i looked at all the 25 gig bd i own and wonder arent they going to have to remaster those too. i was going to buy for example fantastic four. yet i saw it was only a 25 gig bd. does anyone know something about this. and by the way i searched for this kind of article. i couldnt find it here.

thanks

I wanted to say thanks for saying that you searched before posting. I don't own FF on the BD-25, but the reason they are remastering The Fifth Element is because the original release was lackluster in HD quality, to say the least. If other movies suffer from the same thing, and it's due to poor encoding (and not just the source material), then I could see them remastering others, but that is pure conjecture on my part.

Once again, thanks for letting us know you have searched for this.

Most likly not is my guess.

The Fifth Element ... had the dubious honor of prolly being the worst quality movie on a HD disk.

While some other title is going to take that 'honor' with the remaster, I wouldn't bank on rereleases coming out anytime soon.

I've seen transfers that look softer that I call "smoothies" ...

Not even close.

"Traffic" and "Spartacus" on HD DVD make "Fifth Element" look like the pinnacle in High Definition.

I am a little wary on the exchange program. How can I be sure that someone out there doesn’t just want a mess load of Fifth Elements? I was excited to see an exchange program, but I have never heard of Sony doing any kind of exchanges in the past. To send in my (at the time of purchase) $30 BR in the hopes that I will receive a re mastered version sometime after July 17th seems a bit odd. Does any one have proof directly from Sony? Sorry for being so pessimistic.

i know this post doesnt add anything to the thread, and can be considered spam, but Muad'Dib's post is just about the funniest thing I've read all day. Thanks for putting a smile on my face Muad'Dib. I needed that.
