Question on Sony BDP-S550? - Blu-ray Forum

I recently purchased a 46" Sony Bravia LCD and a Sony BDP-S550 blu-ray player. I have tried all the settings I can find on both the TV and the Blu-ray player but I can't manage to find any way to remove the black bars. I have read on a couple of websites that there is no way to do this when using HDMI cables?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, if you prefer letterbox that's your preference but not mine so please don't just tell me its better and get used to it.

The three options under "Video Settings" that should give you what you want are: "TV Type", "Screen Format", and "DVD Aspect Ratio."
