Nobody knows yet - It's due to start on UK TV on the 11th June I believe.

The fact that it's written by two of the League of Gentlemen and promises to be even darker sends me giddy with excitement though.

I'm sure, no matter what it ends up being, it most certainly won't be boring. One thing it won't be is a "safe" sit-com revolving around the family or the workplace like so many interchangeable sit-coms these days are.

Here's a brief teaser from the BBC:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/comedy/20...rst-look.shtml

UPDATE:
I just checked to program my PVR and its not on this week. However, it is starting soon.

Yes, the BBC does that a lot - only recently with Blu-rays, but have been doing for a while on DVD. I've had some DVDs before the series has finished airing on television in the past.

Recently, it looks like Torchwood: Children of Earth, South Pacific and of course Pychoville will be released on Blu-ray soon after the TV screening.

The BBC have the attitude that its best to get TV content out quick, because its something which can easily be distributed from off-air recordings, so they think sales potential is higher if you strike while the awareness is hot and perhaps before the off-air content is fully distributed.

Well I finished watching it last night and I might consider buying it when its substantially reduced. It built well even though the opening gag of the first episode was the best one in the series but the ending was a huge letdown, maddeningly unresolved and totally dependant on there being a second series

*thread resurrection*

I just bought the Series 1 & 2 complete boxset from amazon.
First thing I checked was Series 2, Disc 2, the Halloween special.
It's the full length version! - 59 minutes.

I guess this disc got re-authored at some point?

It doesn't include the extras from the standalone Halloween disc, only those that were always on Series 2, Disc 2. That means for collector's the standalone Halloween release is still worth owning due to exclusive extras.

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but I forgot to buy the Halloween special BD, and I can't find it anywhere for at least a couple of years now.

Can someone please let me know:

-is there any store (Amazon and Zavvi aren't, but any smaller online store) still selling a new copy of the Halloween special on BD?

-additionally, for those who bought the Series 2 BD at launch, or soon after, can you please check if the Halloween episode is fully uncut on your copy?

I've heard mixed information about this. A fellow user previously reported buying the series 1 and 2 boxset, and the episode being fully uncut, suggesting a possible disc re-authoring.

But, a further search leads me to believe the "mess up" affected the DVD, and it indeed includes the short version, but the BD may have always come with the fully uncut version of the episode.

I own the Series 2 BD, but I'm in the middle of a house move, and I have it somewhere among countless boxes with hundreds or thousands of other BDs/DVDs/CDs, so unfortunately I can't check.

thank you

Wasn't the Halloween special included on the series 2 BD?

What is it that you're mentioning regardless cuts? I'm not too clued up on the series being edited. I have series one on BD, but never got around to picking the second series up.

As some fellow users mentioned, at least in the first pressing of Season 2, the Halloween special included was the version prepared for US TV, which was shortened for commercials, running 10 minutes less, and cutting off a whole segment.

A separate Blu-Ray with the Halloween special, plus a couple of extras (audio commentary) was released, but is no longer available.

According to what other fellow users are reporting, it seems at least some recent copies of the Season 1 and 2 boxset are fixed, and the included Halloween special is the full length version.

Thanks. I wonder if there's any way to tell if the box sets contain the full version?

What is the running time of the edited version of the Halloween special? I have the complete series set & haven't got round to watching it yet.

45 minutes. It's very easy to spot - it doesn't have the story of Mr Lomax's new eyes.

It's worth having the Halloween standalone anyway as the commentary is very funny.

FWIW both the DVD and BD of s2 were fixed for the second pressing onwards. It's about 50/50 odds as to which one you'll find.

Aren't the Blurays 60i conversions?

The series was very early-days HD so to be frank there's an argument that the DVDs look better.

My BDs look much better than the DVDs (a friend has the DVDs, so I saw both).

Bumping this thread to mention I finally managed to get a copy of the Halloween special BD (the individual release).

I was searching for one for a few years, and I really wanted to avoid using Ebay (too many bad experiences, and bootlegs), but for lack of alternatives, I ended up finding a seller there that still has sealed stock, in perfect condition. My copy arrived today.

If anyone wants this release, for the exclusive extras, here's the listing (he still has a few copies left):

Thanks. Odd the seller couldn't spell Halloween properly.

Well, at least it was both a legit copy, sealed and in perfect condition, well packed during shipping, and I even ended buying from him a copy of the Baby Driver Australian BD with the bonus disc, quite cheaply:

I had so many bad experiences with Ebay, I didn't even have an active account any longer (I closed my original account 10+ years ago).

I'm happy that, after several years searching, I managed to buy sealed copies of two titles I wanted on the same day: this Psychoville Halloween Special BD, and the 2 disc German BD release of Anchorman 2 (with the international cut, plus the extras in HD on the second disc).
