Question PS2 backwards compatible systems, what are best options for PS2 game?

I have a launch 60g PS3 with backwards compatibility and last night I was playing some God Of War 2 and checked and it was sending my projector a 480p signal. Is there a way for the ps3 to upscale ps2 games to 1080p? I thought there was but couldn't find anything in settings. There used to be a double scale option but I didn't see that anymore. There is normal and full and the smoothing on or off.

Yes, assuming you have updated the PS3 firmware in the past year or so. The upscaling options are available from the XMB. The smoothing and full screen options can also be tweaked from the PS menu during gameplay.

You must have the in-game progressive scan feature turned OFF, however, otherwise the PS3 will send that 480p signal out without upscaling. I set the GOWII options to: Progressive, NO; Widescreen: YES. Then you can have the smoothing ON and upscaling set to FULL SCREEN to have a widescreen experience. Also, the PS3 runs GOWII in hi-res mode really well: when the game boots, hold down L1, L2, L3, Square, Circle. If it worked the opening credits screen will be in pink text instead of white.

No problem. I also have a 60GB (now 320GB) launch model. The PS2 games that have widescreen support generally look really good on there. i.e. Shadow of the Colossus
