Looking for suggestions for new receiver.

Hello,

After having my Pioneer for about a year now and having this annoying problem that I can't get rid of, I am looking for a new receiver. My price range is $600 but am willing to spend more if the product is going to suit my needs better. I need a receiver with pre-outs for my amplifier. I have been looking at the new Denons but their remotes look absolutely terrible. Has anyone had any experience with them? I would like something that has very good audio processing and multi-channel Pure Direct modes. Please feel free to ask questions in search of my new receiver. Thanks for your help.

Ok. So I was looking at getting the VSX-03TXH today at Best Buy. They were willing to price match it at $699. Would it be worth going from the 91 to the 03. Any other suggestions?

Or perhaps you can see about checking into the Marantz 5003 or the Denon 1909/1910.

I have the 03 and I love it, I'm not to familiar with your elite model. I've been nothing but impressed since I picked it up.

I just had a thought. What if I stepped up the the SC-05. Do you think the amplifier on that would be better than me using my Acurus Amplifier?

the one issue that I have with the Yammys right now is that from last years 863 on down, they are all bench testing poorly, just like is typical of the Sonys. The Onkyo 806 was down quite a bit from the 805, again for features. I am sure that Pioneers will be the same since these are the 4 most popular companies, typically.

I would go with the Marantz 6003 100 watts rated, and its doing 96wpc with 7 channels driven or the Marantz 5003 model or like the Denon 2309CI, they are testing really well, they may not have as many features, but the sound and power are there.

callas, if you think the Pioneers are starting to sacrifice power for features, do you think the SC-05 would be considered in that group as well?
