I think is excellent price about 11 pounds, not sure if is steelbook probaly not. I might import this i know is region b but my oppo can play region free i can view region b star gate so this should not be a problem.

Anyone know if there is a difference in pq of this release vs. the Miramax issued blu (distributed via KimchiDvd)?

korean blu is a direct port of the uk disc.

Does this UK Blu-ray edition come with any special features beyond the upscaled Hong Kong cut?

The UK DVD originally came with some featurettes.

Ideally I’d like to see this film’s HK cut remastered with all available special features but I’ve lost faith in anything like that happening in the US anytime soon.

I have the steelbook and watched the directors cut, didn't realise it was an upscale but I wasn't watching that closely for upscale evidence. I was upgrading from the branching HK dvd so I don't mind extras missing, the Korean set extras are SD anyway. Must dig it out and see if the picture differs for international cut.

EDIT - Comparing the English cut with the HK version on the UK release, both appear to be identical in resolution. I can't say it's an upscale, the clarity is way better than the HK DVD which exhibits combing as well. No extras so keeping the HK dvd is essential for the subtitled 20min making of amongst other extras.

The UK one is extras free but the Korean one has extras on a 2nd, DVD ONLY, disc.

The Director's Cut on the UK DVD is CUT as it is missing the outtakes end credits which were included as extras.

I just noticed that it's on YouTube for free with Ads in HD. It's the 88 minutes version though but in original Cantonese.
