Default Denon 1910 and Oppo 83

Just was wondering if anyone has this setup and what you think. I know that on some bluray players the little blue hd logo on the Denon receiver doesn't light up.Why is that?? Thanks

What receiver are you upgrading from?

I went from a Denon avr-887 to the 1910 and was not satisfied. It was a little weak @ 90x7, the display is very small and the data gets cut off, and Denon remotes really do suck.

Overall I was not satisfied but that does not me you won't be. These are just some things to think about. You can see the receiver I went with in my sig.

The blue hd light will only light up when the audio is bitstreamed the ps3 doesn't bitstream so the light doesn't turn on. That's the only player that I can think of where it doesn't turn on

I started with buying the 1909 then after doing research it lead me to buying the 2809 more watts and features but if money is a issue then u will still get a good receiver with the 1910

There were a number of early BD players that wouldn't bitstream. Sony's S300 (released in the summer of 2007) cannot bitstream. The first Panasonic player to bitstream was the BD30, I think, and it was released in October or November 2007.

The BDP-83 will decode all of Blu-ray's audio formats internally, so it's not really necessary to have the receiver decode - the BDP-83 can send a bitstream, or it can send decoded multichannel PCM. There is no difference from an audio quality perspective.

blarneyrubble,
I'll be upgrading from an Onkyo 606. It served me well, but bit the dust awhile
back.The SR6003 is a nice receiver,it is out of my price range,around 500.00.

cdot2four,
unfortunately the 2809(drooling) is out of my price range right now also..Put on top of that maybe getting the BDP-83 ,then I may have to move the equipment to the dog house. Call me crazy, but I just like the Blue HD logo lit up. As for the remote,I have a Harmony one,so it won't matter. I can get the 1910 for around 400.00,buddy works for a dealer and I can use his discount.

gonk,
my panny does both.Am I spending more than I have to on a receiver since my old and BDP-83 one does decoding internally?
