Default Is "Tyson" worth a blind buy?

I have this movie in my Blockbuster queue but don't know how long I have to wait and I'm not that patient. Mike Tyson was one of my favorite boxers back in the day and would like to watch a good movie about him. I'm aware there's previous films about his life but they stunk. Is this movie any good and/or worth keeping?

P.S. I did a search on this subject and didn't find anything, so don't be hard head and create a link pointing at the proper thread. -Thanks, Derek

I enjoyed it, but I don't think it's necessary to purchase, not a whole lot of replay value in it for me at least.

I have the UK version and let me tell you, even though its pretty much a documentary, the PQ is VERY good. As far as the film itself, this is the definitive Mike Tyson story. He gives you his entire life story, past to present, no holds barred. Every line of dialouge uttered in this documentary comes from no one other than Tyson. Trust me, even if you aren't a Tyson fan, you will understand this man a whole lot better by the time its over. All of his highs and lows, failures and successes, all is laid bare here. At least give it a rent if you're a casual fan. If you're a huge Mike fan, own it.

Haven't seen it but it seems to be about the boxer.

So... I would say no. Even though he's popular, I know almost nothing about Tyson.

Spoilerized...

[Show spoiler]I think he bit someone and I understand he likes to damage random cars because he's been hit in the head a lot.

Just knowing that is more than I need. I won't even Netflix it.

-Brian

I'm still waiting for my copy from AMZ. Not a big Tyson fan, but I love to relive those Mike Tyson moments.

Well, "Tyson" worth watching, it is great documentary. But there`s no reason to buy it, epecially on blu. Better to rent it.

I thought about just renting it, but I am a long time viewer of boxing.

Cool I have more confidence in your statement than others. Since its very detailed, which is what I've been looking for, it sounds like a box office hit for documentaries.

Does anyone know of any cheap prices (Under $20) for this title?

You might have to wait a while until Amazon has it on sale. I got it for $26.99.

I bought it day one in the UK and watched it day one as well, but all I can say is buy the DVD (or rent the Blu). Yes PQ is great but for the money the DVD is a better choice as replay value is not so much, it is one of those watch once or twice over the entire time of owning it lol.

As a boxing fan, I really enjoyed this! I've watched it once and have since played it again a couple of times but skipping ahead to certain parts (ie 20 minutes in when they show footage of him in training - so fast!!!!).

I only found out about this documentary last week when I was flipping through channels and caught the second half of his interview on Oprah (that was also interesting). I just saw a commercial last night that he'll be back for another interview on the show today (October 16), this time with Evander Holyfield!

Luckily I've already set my PVR to record it so that if people are going out after work today, I don't have to say "sorry - gotta run home and catch Oprah!"

Can't wait to see it. Probabaly a bliind buy, boxing isn't poular in Taiwan and the stores probably won't have it for rent. I also have to blind buy a lot of westerns.

I think, unfortunately, it's taken a hit in popularity everywhere in recent years (imo). The fact that we're all talking about boxing now just proves the point that, love him or hate him, Mike Tyson got people excited about the sport.
