Hi Guys,
I've been playing blu-rays on my Dell Inspiron 1525 through an external Lite-on blu-ray drive for months now. Everything has worked fine with the exception of slight lags here and there. All of a sudden, I can't get the blu-rays to play. The first few seconds of the movie trailers play and then the videos just lock up. This never used to happen. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Status update: I'm able to play the blu-ray discs for five seconds at a time before the visuals stop but the timer continues ticking. I exit out of PowerDVD then reopen it. I select to resume the movie from the last played scene, which it does. I then get another five seconds of playback before I have to repeat the process. Another thing I just noticed -- my audio for the movies is gone, too. Why is everything going wrong all of a sudden?!?!

have you made any changes to your system lately? Video drivers? Have you tried other video software aside from Powerdvd? Total Media Theater maybe or other versions of PowerDVD like 8 or 9?

Try the drivers from your cards manufacturer website a well i.e. ATI or Nvidia, for whichever video card is installed in your system. If you are trying to play the movie directly from the disc, instead, try and copy the BD movie you are trying to watch to your hard drive and try to play back the files if possible. This may help you find out if it's the BD-Rom failing on you or not.

I recently had the same problem with my new Dell XPS 435T. The problem was resolved when I updated the Blu-ray drive's firmware. Prior to this firmware update, I had to delete PowerDVD 8.2 DX and use version 8.1 DX due to a known software bug confrimed by Dell's technical support. It seems that the firmware update corrected this problem.
