Does the KDS-50A2020 series resolve FULL 1080p in its STANDARD mode? Does anything need to be "set" in the TV to make sure all pixels are being displayed?
There doesn't seem to be a "pixel for pixel" feature on this set, so I just want to make sure that in STANDARD mode, I'm not losing any resolution from my BD player... |

Your display will ALWAYS display 1080P regardless of the resolution of the video source. It doesn't matter what picture mode you are watching. It only displays a fixed resolution. Of course the picture will be better if it is being fed 1080P from a blu-ray than crap 480i/p from SD sources.
All rear projection displays have overscan (2% to 5% is typical) but you will be seeing full 1080P assuming your Blu-ray player can output that resolution. |

Thanks very much for the replies, guys...I appreciate them...
I asked the question initially because I recall reading reports about the SXRDs having "problems" resolving or "displaying" 1080p resolution in Custom mode; not sure what model that was... I totally understand that the TV is a fixed panel display and will always show 1080p, either upscaled by the TV or a source device, but while I AM feeding the display 1080p from my BD player, I wanted to be sure that in STANDARD picture mode, I am getting all 1080p resolution... Also, why does the KDS-50A2020 not provide a Pixel For Pixel feature, because of its overscan, but other Sony models do? |

Thank you for the continued assistance guys...
Yes, I have the A2020 series, so are there problems "seeing" 1080p in any mode -- especially "Standard," which I use? |

This is true....but If your sharpness setting is 18 or less.....you hardly ever see it! Don't worry your eyes will adjust and in no time you WILL notice detail you never have before.I still say the sharpness control is something they NEVER should have put in televisions, because most people don't really know what they are looking for when they set theirs........ ![]() |

So, ALL rear pros have overscan so that's why there's no pixel-for-pixel adjustment on them? |
