Default YPAO Speaker Phase

Every time I run the YPAO on my yamaha V663 I get errors saying some speakers are out of phase. I've checked and rechecked connections and they are all what they should be. Why does this happen? Am I doing something wrong?

In some cases I've switched the connections just to see if the error goes away, which it did. But I know that I'm actually swapping the CORRECT connections to make them incorrect.

This is from the FAQ of Audyssey. I am sure YPAO works the same way.

Q. My speakers are wired correctly, why does MultEQ give a "Phase" error?
A. MultEQ detects absolute phase for each loudspeaker. Some loudspeakers are designed with intentional phase reversals in the drivers in order to address crossover problems. MultEQ will detect that and report an error. The best course of action is to simply check the wiring and press "Skip" if it is correct. MultEQ simply reports a possible wiring reversal, it does not automatically switch the phase.

I've never had that problem until today. I repositioned my speakers slightly , so I reran the YPAO. It first reported my LF out of phase. I reran the test and then it read both were out of phase. I can assure you that they aren't, but I thought this interesting.

I repositioned them to make sure they are equidistant from all sides. I'm experimenting with a slight TOE-OUT position, and so far I've been rather surprised. We'll see how it works out.

I read in the AVS forums that postioning can cause YPAO to report out of phase on correctly wired speakers. Something about low frequencies and cancellation but I really can't recall the specifics. The "expert" there suggested trying different placements.

Interesting. The problem is I don't want to change the positioning as the placement I am at seems optimal to me for sound. I'm wondering if the TOE-OUT position is causing this?
