Default Harry Potter Re-Release?????

I see amazon has new "Ultimate Editions" of Harry Potter 1 and 2 up for pre-order. Does anybody know if there is anything significantly different about these compared to the original releases, other than the coverart?

Nice Deal! I got mine at Circuit City just before they closed their doors for $12 a piece. I'm happy with mine too, I was just curious. I wonder why its just the first two?

It's a place holder. Producer of the HP films confirmed there would be an "ultimate edition" DVD box set when the serires was complete. I wouldn't put much thought or energy into it yet.

I looked at the pics at Amazon, and maybe they might have a few more extras or maybe a digital copy or something like that? There's not much to go on since there isnt much of a description, I just now I'm happy w/ the one's I got in my Blu library!

I don't know about you guys, but I hate it when studios take advantage re-releasing titles (The special edition, the super edition, the never before seen edition). they need to stop doing that, and just release a whole edition once.

They are seriously putting a dent in my wallet. I just can't resist.

Default Harry Potter "Ultimate Editions"

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Ultimate Edition)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Ultimate Edition)

Discuss? There are no details yet, don't think they are the extended editions people were talking about in the last thread a month ago. So far only the first two films are up for preorder with no release date.

These have been announced for a while now.

edit: not really "announced" so much as just known about

I'm honestly not playing the "special edition" game this time around. I did that with DVD and ended up rebuying a lot of them because of additional features or footage. I have all the Harry Potters on Blu-ray and I'm going to stick with those.

That's perfectly understandable. Personally I've been holding off buying any of the HP movies because I knew these ultimate editions were coming.

I am right there with you, I've learn my lesson with DVD and special or ultimate releases. How many ultimate release can they do from one movie before it become's annoying. This time around I am learning to live with what I have

Does anyone know if these new releases will have PCM soundtracks like the originals, if not then there's no way i'm double dipping.

I don't think they'll have any re-releases of the hp movies after the ultimate editions or between now and deathly hallows because they can't just start a collection and not finish it! There will probably be a boxed set of all the ue's but they'll just be the same ones that came out seperately. They did the same thing with the Harry Potter books....

I think there will of course be all the Ultimate Editions, obviously.
Just maybe a box of all of them, but definitely a box of all regular editions.
Perhaps an additional new one if not just a whole new one next to the Ultimate Editions.

It's small I know but I received this email newsletter that shows all the ultimate editions together including two separate releases for movie 7.

Which makes sense, since the final book will be split into 2 movies.
