Default Honest opinions

I'm sure this has been asked before but i would like some fresh opinions. I'm looking at a new tv soon and my big question is what i should go with, Plasma or LCD. I'm looking between 52" and up .

The system has a PS3 hooked into thesystem and is our main tv we use in the house. I watch football as much as i can and love the PS3 also. I've heard the pros and cons of plasma/lcd as everyone else has.

Would like some good opinions on this please.

Thanks to all

Big Ed

Not to be rude, but if you've heard all the pros and cons of Plasma vs LCD then why would you even consider Plasma? Plasma IMO is like dvd vs laserdisc. It won't be around as long as LCD. It will be dead technology in a few years. I could be wrong but hey I also bought a few HD-DVD's before I thought Blu-Ray would win.

firstly is your tv going to be located in a brightly lit room? if so LCD if not Plasma.

If most of your viewing at night or near dark room - then Plasma.

Best Plasma if u can find one is the LX or M Pioneers

excellent LCD is Sony XBR8.

Funny, people have been saying that same thing for years and every year plasmas are consistently ranked higher than LCD.

Yep...add Chrysler and Bose to his list of investments.

Strikes one, two and three. Pretty sure we can ignore his posts.

LOL. I didn't even catch the BOSE Acoustocrap in his sig (or the Aquos).

That right there screams "please don't take anything I say seriously".

It's embarrassing reading this rubbish from someone who lives so close to me.

You are correct in one thing, though, there is no comparison. Plasma beats out LCD in ALL major picture quality categories. Every professional shoot-out rates plasma ahead of LCD. These are indisputable facts.

You claim plasma won't be around as long as LCD. Based on what? Because Pioneer couldn't remain profitable selling high-end sets in an economic recession/depression? Or maybe it's because Vizio couldn't compete with their crappy sets against Panasonic/Samsung/LG? But in the end, what does it matter? Buy a high quality, top performing plasma today, and it will last you 8-10 years, minimum. Why would one care if, during that time, plasma was replaced by some newer technology? Would it automatically make your set unwatchable? Really, that's a pretty stupid reason (even though not true) to not go with plasma.
