Ordered a BDP-S300 from SonyStyle

I'm disabled, so I don't play games, but I do enjoy my music and movies. Now, my newbie question: If my player doesn't ship with the latest firmware, how does one upgrade it? Thank's in advance!

Hi and welcome to our forum!

Go to the Sony support site:

HERE

And download the firmware update. (There isn't any for your model yet)

When an update does come out, you'll need to burn it as a disc image (not a file!) using software like Nero or Sonic RecordNow!

Your model reads CDs, so it is possible that this can be burned onto a CD.

Mine only reads DVDs, so I had to burn it on a more expensive DVD+R.

Well Gimpy Ric,
If the player doesn't ship with the latest update, you have a couple options. when an update becomes available, you can download it (usually from sony's website), burn it onto a disc and pop it in the blu ray player and it will know what to do from there. The other option is to call sony and have them mail you one.

I picked up that sony from work (best buy) a couple weeks ago! It has incredible picture quality! The only downside right now is the load time on starting up the player and loading a disc. This is something that can be fixed with some updates though. Good luck to ya!

I got my S300 last month rom Sonystyle and it has the 2.0 firmware, so i'm sure yours will be up to date too.

How do you feel about sony lying and leading people to believe the bdp-s300 is 1.3 hdmi? When in all actuallity it is 1.2 hdmi a switch they did right before release, prolly to save money.

Well, remember they also dropped the price $100 right before the release to. People tend to forget about that.
