Hi all,
I just got the new 2nd gen Panny blu ray player w/ 5 free movies....awesome!!! I was wondering what type of stereo too hook up. I dont want the rear channels in my living room.....wife hates wires.....so I was thinkinf of adding the bose 321 system to compliment it. I already have a bose lifestyle 12 from a few years ago. cant I just hook that up with the two front and one center speaker and the acoustmass speaker? I would rather get a 321 to save on wires though. another set up i was thinging was one of the speaker bars...like polk or yamaha. along with onkyo receiver for upconverting hdmi and just add a powered subwoofer. which setup is best out of the 3? someone please help???? ![]() ![]() deveone |

If your room is any bigger than a small den, the 321 is a big waste of money (as are most Bose products). I've never heard any of the bar type deals, although any type of substitute I've heard for true surround sound has never been a substitute for true surround sound. If I had to, I'd probably go for the two fronts and the center with the sub . . . or a new wife

Yeah, the bookshelfs with the good center and sub would be my choice. Can't really go wrong with Onkyo either. Depending on your setup, you could always get some decent rears as well, put some banana clips on them for easy in and out and just plug 'em in when you're using them. Or when you're home alone. Kinda ghetto, but it'd be a shame to only have half your sound.

bose 321 is a rip. its like a set of logitech 2.1 computerspeakers connected to a dvd player. This can be acheived for under $100.
I like Boses hometheater speaker systems. I think they are the best small speaker out there, but all their otherstuff IMO is wacked. |

Well, I'm a guy who has networking CAT5 cable strung all over my pad. So I'm going to encourage you to go the Onkyo route. I think that will give you the most longevity for you system. The new Onkyo models already support the new HD audio formats for "Dolby True" and "DTS Master". That will give you some growing room as these formats become more widely adopted. I'm not sure if Bose is going that route yet (but check). And of course the Onkyo will also support HDMI 1.3 spec as you mentioned.
Welcome to the forum. Thanks for choosing to go BLU!! |
