Default Talstarone's Home Theater Hang-Out

Some Of You May Already Know me.
But There Are Many Who Do Not.So Allow Me To Introduce Myself.

My Name Is Todd(Screen Name Talstarone).I Have Been a member of Blu-Ray.Com Since April 10th,2009.

I First Got A True Start In Audio/Home Theater in 1992.By 1995 I Had a Full Blown Home Theater/2-Channel Audio System.I Stayed in the Hobby Until Early 2000.Then I Took an Extended Break from the Hobby.

But In January 2009 I Became Interested In Home Theater/Audio Again. So Since Then I Have Slowly Accumulated the Rather Modest Gear I Have Now.

But I Do Try to Spend All My Spare Money(Which Is Limited)On My HT/Audio System.

So Today(Nov.3,2009)I get to order the New Screen and Brackets for my Projector.
I have been using a $4.00 White Wal Mart Sheet(Which Actually Did a Respectable Job)But I have a Feeling a True Projection Screen will Allow the Image to Look Even Better.

I finally feel that I have enough accomplished in my Home Theater System to Start My Own Thread.

I Have A Lot of Work To Continue On.My Home Theater Room Also Doubles As My Bedroom. And is Small In Size(Only A 10ft X 10ft).

So my Next Steps Are Hanging The New Screen.Attaching RaceWays Wire Channels to Hide the Speaker Wires From The BaseBoard Up the Wall to My Four Klipsch S-2 Hybrid Bipolar Surround Speakers.

Then The Last Stage of Phase 1 Will Be Painting the Room(A Color I Saw in BetaMan's Thread and Really Liked)Its called Breviety Brown from Sherwin Williams.

After That Is Completed I will Re-attach the Curtain Rod on the Wall My Screen is Attached To.I Have Black Curtains to Cover that Entire Wall. This Will allow Me to Be Looking at a Projection Screen Surrounded with Nothing But Dark Black Curtains. This Should Help With both the Contrast and Black Levels My Projector will Throw Upon My Screen.

And to eliminate ANY Reflections from the White,Textured Ceiling,I Am Borrowing an Idea from brokenthumb.I Will place a black Sheet over a good portion of the Ceiling All the Way to Where the Screen Is Located. An Inexpensive but very Effective Solution to a Possible Reflection Problem.

Then Phase 1 of My System Will Be Completed.

Then it Will Be Time To Move to Phase 2 Starting In December.
Adding a 2-Channel Music System To My Current System.

But More On That When The SACD Player Is Purchased Next Month.

But My Current Home Theater System Consists of the Following Components.
(PHASE ONE)

Audio:
Yamaha RX-V665 Receiver
Insignia NS-BRDVD Blu-Ray Player

Video:
Sony VPL-VW10HT LCD Projector (720p/1080i)
Elite Screens 84 Inch Diagonal 16:9 WideScreen

Speakers:
Polk Audio TSi-400's(Front R&L)
Polk Audio CS10(Center Speaker)
Klipsch S-2's(Side Bipolar Surrounds)
Klipsch S-2's(Rear Bipolar Surrounds)
Polk Audio PSW10( 4)(Four Powered Subwoofer)

Misc.
Tripp-Lite HT-3100PC Isobar Component Line Power Conditioner
Monster Cable XPHP (10awg) Speaker Wire
Monster Cable HDMI Cable
Philips HDMI Cable
MonoPrice HD Component Video Cables

(PHASE TWO)
Coming In 2010

Components Already Owned:
Rotel RC980 BX Pre-Amplifier
Rotel RB930 AX Two Channel Amplifier
Adcom GSP-560 Surround Processor/Amplifier
Philips InnerConnects

SACD Player(Arriving this Month February)/Sony DVP-NS 500V
External Amp (Arriving in March) Two-Channel
External Amp (Arriving in April) Three Channel
New Speakers(Starting in June)
TurnTable(Arriving in July/August)/Pro-Ject Debut III

I Have Some Pics Of My Gallery Showing Most Of What Is In Place Now.

But Remember This Is Just A Start To Build The Best System I Can Afford and Fit In Such A Small Area.
So There Are A Tremendous Number Of Changes To Occur Over The Next 3 Months.

So What You See Now Will In NO WAY Resemble What You Will See In January/February.
So If You Leave Rating Please Be Kind.

This Is Just The Begining Of Something Much,Much Better.

Thank You Sir .
I Hope you Are Having a Wonderful Morning,my Friend.

I figured I may as well get it started.A week later wont change how many visits I end up getting.
And,besides,I am kind of Excited today.

I get to Order the Screen and The Brackets from the Projector Screen Store. So,hopefully next week,I will have it hear and hung.

And in regards to the last PM you sent. Its the 2nd feeling you had.
Arrogant.I have seen too many of that type.

No I cant do anything other then just ignoring that whole set entirely .
I just will act as if they never existed. And to be Honest, that wont be difficult at all.

And No it will be about Noon before I get to place the order.
My check wont be in the Bank until about 11 AM.Then I transfer it into 3 different accounts.

An one of those is where all my purchases come from. But if they are on the West Coast, like I believe,it will still only be @ 9AM There.

And I want to place the order over the phone. That way there is no mis-understandings.And,that I also get the correct brackets.

Good Morning Todd .

New thread ~ New Projector screen on order . Things are looking up for you my Friend . Good for you & congrats on the soon to be new screen you will get next week ..

If I might add to your first post on some advice on the painting & Raceways .Paint first & then paint the raceway off the wall . Then put the Raceway on the wall when you are done with the painting .
If you paint the raceway on the wall , when you take it off there will be A heavy line of paint left on the wall .
I speak from experience

Good Morning, crazy,my Friend . Thanks for Visiting my "Hang Out".

And Yes,Finally the screen will be ordered today. So I am just a little excited.

And Thank You for that needed piece of advice on the Raceways.Because I would have done the exact opposite of what I should have.

When it comes to painting, thats where my small room will be an advantage.Especially with 8foot ceilings.
And also with one wall almost not there. It has 2 doors. One to the closet and one out of the Room.So that wall wont require much painting.

And my Brother-in-Law is a Really Good Painter.I may see what he would charge or ask for to paint it.
Though it may be possible for myself and/or My Dad getting it done.

I just need to see if I need to prime the wall with Kilz or the Paint with the Primer Mixed in.
Especially since I am going from an off white to a darker matte color.

Great to see some good things happening for you todd. Been a busy day today guess it is nice to get some downtime from work and get to peek here in the forums. Fell asleep as soon as i got home from work then woke up 3 hours later for some more work at home. I am jealous of these PJ users since i have been thinking of getting one well before CB got his but priorities and stuff i will just have to wait longer.

Thank You tbizzle,buddy .

I have set down and watched thru one complete movie since I put the sheet up and got the temporary stand for the Projector.

The difference was completely Amazing(and I have a small image size @80 inches). But it made it Truly feel like a Home Theater.

Best upgrade I have made as of yet.Even more so then the 4 Bipolar Surrounds.

Hi Lestat,my friend .
Thank You for the PM.It is extremely appreciated. As all your help has been. Its been a Blessing in getting to know you.

I hope you have had enough sleep to feel relaxed and recharged. And I dont know what shipping and money exchange rates are in your Area of the World. But Projector Prices are dropping faster and faster.

I feel with all these members buying projectors, that there will be a good amount of used ones for sale in a few months.Especially since 1080p Projectors are continuing to drop in price so much and so Fast.

And I Have to Give Full Credit and Props to Big Daddy for me having a Projector. If he didnt have an older but good as new projector he wanted to sell,I wouldn't have one by now at all.

But I was Just Blessed to be in the right Place and the Right Time. And Was Sincerely Thankful that Big Daddy spread such Kindness and Generosity on my end.

So keep plugging away. You may have a projector before you know it.Especially with the new models constantly being introduced.
That will keep driving down the price of New,but Discontinued Models.

But I will be honest, crazy.I dont know how to add these pics to the Forum.Only to my Gallery and Albums.

So what do I need to do to have them on my Thread ?

This projector fever will result in a trickle down effect.
As there will be pleanty of used projectors for sale as prior owners move up the line to not just 1080p Projectors but the top of the line projectors.

Ones with the anamorphic feature built-in and all the other high end features now(tremendous Contrast and Black levels).

So the ones they owned previously will go up for Sale here or on some site like Craigs List or Audiogon.Which will just continue to add to more and more projector owners.
In fact there will probably be projectors in many, many more HT Rooms.Except for those that cant get WAF.

And just out of curiosity how did you make your purchase? If it was just using the internet,I would do that if it wouldn't be for getting the Brackets.

I want to make sure they will work with this screen, inparticular. And also see if All the hardware and other items are included standard with the brackets.

That is why I want to talk to someone.

I ordered mine on the internet with VisualApex. I did my research and knew this would work with the screen I got. I think VisualApex is an excellent site...and so is theprojectorpeople, as well. With X-mas coming up, projector fever will hit an all time high I think.....

Oh it will hit an All Time High for the Forum by the turn into 2010.

I had forgot that you went with VisualApex.I was going with the Screen Store, because that is where crazy got his screen if i am correct.

But I will spend a little Free Time this morning to look over VA,PJ Central, and the PJPeople(whose site I dont know if I have ever visited).

I just look forward to all the projectors that will be going up for sale,as oewners look to upgrade. This is when a lot of people who otherwise couldn't get a Projector will have their chance.

It will be another exciting time on the Forum.
