No. For instance, I hate Pirates of the Caribbean 2 & 3. Therfore, I do not own those two and will never own those two. Not even if it means that I will be completing a set.
Here's another "for example" within the same franchize. If they do film PotC 4, and I like that movie, I will purchase it and still leave numbers 2 and 3 out of my collection. |

That is going to be the case for me when I get the Matrix Trilogy. The first one is the best one out of the three in my opinion but I'm going to get all three just to have them all. I will of course watch the 2nd and 3rd movies but not as much as the 1st.
Now if it was the Terminator movies then I'd just get 1 and 2. Screw 3 and 4. |

I have The Matrix digibook BD, and as much as I like (though not as much) Reloaded and Revolutions, I still didn't want to pay $60 to $80 just to have all three (no interest in The Animatrix). Someday, if the followup movies become available as single-title BD releases, I will pick them up. For now, the DVDs I have of the followup movies will do (although a far cry from BD quality).
I have the first Starship Troopers BD (love it!), but am not interested at all in the followups. I have the first Rocky BD. I really am only interested in Rocky 2 and Rocky 3 beyond the first one. Perhaps they will also become available as single-title BD releases, but I'm not really interested in the entire collection. |

Depends on the series like the Spider-Man movies Spider-Man 3 is my least favorite(but didn't exactally hate it) but it came with 1 and 2 if you bought the boxset so I got the boxset and enjoyed it. But if something like Son of the Mask, the Dumb and Dumberer prequel, or Ace Ventura Jr. those will never enter my collection. X-Men 3 wasn't great but not really bad enough to be in the same situation as the ones I will never have enter to my collction. Same with Matrix.
So really point is it depends on how much I hate the sequel or prequel will depend if it enters my collection or not. |

Back when I use to buy DVD's I had to have complete sets, even if I only watched the movie was and never again. Once I made the jump to Blu this rule was left behind with my DVD's. I only buy what I know I like and will get re-watch value out of.

I do the same but when i do make exceptions I do watch them just not as often. I won't buy a movie and won't watch that often though. The 2nd and 3rd matrix movies I will watch fairly often but not as often as the 1st but it's often enough to warrant having them. Haha make sense?

The James Bond series of films are hit and miss for me. So I only pick up the ones I like. Rocky's another series; I only like the first and last ones. Otherwise, I generally like to have 'em all for a series I really like and if I'm able to get them in one set. I have both Star Trek film boxed sets, the PotC boxed set, the Bourne set, the Harry Potter trunk set, the POTA set, the Batman 4-film Collection, and even sold my solo Fantastic Four BD when I picked up the FF/FF:Silver Surfer/Daredevil boxed set. Indiana Jones/Crystal Skull is a one-off obviously 'cause the other three aren't on BD yet. And I'm hoping to skip picking up the last three Harry Potter films and wait for a big boxed set of all eight.

Oh yeah... I'm a terrible completist. In fact, with the "Criterion Collection" releases, that completist side of me wants me to buy every film that was released, so I can have everything in numerical order. There is also a part of me where I'm starting to enjoy certain director's work and want to own every film they released on Blu (or DVD).
As for Bond, yeah...I purchased every film on DVD but on Blu-ray, only Sean Connery films so far though. I have a problem with purchasing a film and it's not in complete or in order. Although, I'm glad that I'm not to particular on media (ie. having to have everything on Blu-ray) or else I would go broke. Last edited by kndy; 11-07-2009 at 04:45 PM. |

Yep. I'm a fan of franchises and will buy sequels and spin offs of a movie I like regardless of quality. It's the collector in me that dates back to being a big comic book collector in my youth. Plus, I have an affinity for bad movies. So it all works out.
