Default Buying a new receiver

Hello, I want to buy a new receiver, especially with Black Friday around the corner. Does anyone have suggestions for a receiver that includes hd audio codecs ,HDMI inputs, and of course a quality product for under $300?.

wow, i think that might be quite the tall order. however, if pre/pro capability is not critical to have then, you can get the Onkyo 607 for just under $380 right now, and it might be even lower on Friday. it has quite a few of the modern day bells and whistles too, just no pre-outs (you would need that capability if you were going to upgrade to an external amp in the future) other than that it's fine. my friend got one just about 3 weeks ago, i help him set it up and he is happy as a pig in, well, you know...

best of luck to ya! get to sleep early Thursday, cause your gonna have to get up early on Friday to catch these special savings. also, best to have a couple of folks go with you or go to different places with known price and whoever grabs one first text the group and let only one person buy it and then you just pay them back. pack shopping, hey, thats what the chicks would do!

The 607 might not go as low as 300, but the 507 already is. Depending on the speakers you are powering, it might not make that big of a difference.

I don't think it to be A bad idea to wait until you can add A couple hundred to that if you could add that before christmas the sales will be there & you can get A good receiver with A $500.oo budget .

i agree with crazy. given the economy right now, if you can hold off even after black friday, this christmas holiday i'm sure you will get a good deal, these stores will crank it down to get you to buy it. save as much as you can to get you to 5 bones or higher and you'll get a nice receiver. like i said, newegg.com has the 607 for under $400.00 right now, hell, you could swing that for just 1 bone over your budget!

oh yeah, did i mention, FREE SHIPPING! let me see you beat that!

I agree and should get a little more money for a better AVR. When I first started out, I bought the Onkyo 605(was nothing wrong with it) and I felt like I shorted myself and I took it back and ordered the Onkyo 805 within a few days.

The Onkyo 805 made me the happiest and I'm glad I was able to get that model.

Denon AVR-1610
Use code RECEIVERSALE to take it down to 269.99 + shipping. They are not currently taking orders for this online because the stock is low but call them before they run out and they will let you order and take the coupon code over the phone, I just ordered one today. Total was $289.19 with shipping.

HK 254 and 354 can be had for under 300 on harmon kardon ebay site everyday. I owned and a 254 and loved it as my prepro. I think mine with shipping was 245 and that was about 7 months ago. Both has preouts and decode all codecs

It does have pre-outs to upgrade it from 5.1 to 7.1 at a later date.

No it does not. I just checked the Denon website, and there are no pre-outs on this receiver. What it does have is Speaker A outputs for 5 channels, and Speaker B output for two channel. That's where I think you're getting confused.

Ok, I am new to all of this, the only thing I have now is a sony soundbar so this is all new to me, but I took this from AVS forum its where I got my info.

- Pre-outs to expand to 7.1; add a two-channel amp to power "rear" or "height" channels with PLIIx/z (respectively)
- full HD audio support including Dolby TrueHD + DTS-MA decoding
- 3 HDMI 1.3a inputs, 2 component video inputs (60 MHz bandwidth)
- 2 optical / 1 coaxial digital audio inputs
- Seven fully assignable video source "names" (TV, CBL/SAT, DVD, HDP, DVR, VCR, V-AUX)
- Full Audyssey suite (MultEQ + Dynamic EQ + Dynamic Volume) with adjustable reference level for Dynamic EQ
- Will convert analog video to HDMI output (and deinterlace 480i > 480p if your TV needs it) but no scaling
- OSD will show over HDMI, but will not overlay unless you are using an S-video / composite source
- 1610 adds "B" front speakers (590 only has "A" front speakers)

Sony STR-DN1000 $299 BF deal that you can buy now.... I have last years and I really like it. The only complaint is the lack of pre-outs for an external amp, other then that it is a very good receiver.

I just purchased the 1000 from Newegg for 299. I am pleasently surprised by the sound the AVR puts out. I didn't need pre-outs so this was a great deal!
