Taiwan Taiwan Blu-rays

I was ordering Memories of Murder from Yes Asia and needed a filler to get free shipping and a $5 coupon. I noticed many Taiwan Blu-rays that are ~$20 that fit the bill. However, there is next to no discussion on any of these movies here or on any of the Asian movie forums I frequent. Is there an English language forum that reviews these Taiwan movies?

Well, it would be for Taiwan movies, so there isn't much other choices.

Try jsdvd.com forums if they could be translated with e.g. google. At their mall you can also find some Tawanese BD bargains.

Any info on Taiwan BD's would be much appreciated cause I myself am interested in many Taiwan releases.

I guess Blu-ray.com has the biggest number of English reviews of Taiwan Blu-rays now. I count at least 46 separate threads on discussion of Taiwan Blu-ray releases.

How was the video, audio, and English subtitle quality of Hula Girls?

There have been quite a few reissues of Taiwanese cinema recently, most notably Dust in the Wind on Blu-ray, and some of Yang's films on DVD. Vive L'Amour is due out later this year and I haven't been able to figure out whether it will be on DVD or Blu-ray, does anyone know the answer? Thanks. Either way it will be very exciting to see

Thanks a lot for your insights on the Pony Blu Rays from Taiwan.

I'm about to order 6 of them but I can't find any reviews for 5 of them... and even if the discs are cheap, the shipping coasts aren't...

Could anyone tell me if the following Pony releases are any good?:
- See No Evil
- Running Scared
- Election
- SPL
- Battle of Wits
- Hostage
- Invitation Only (I read a review here)

The thing is that I don't want/need any SD upconvert.
Those titles already came out in the US, or in HK...
But they are region locked, or don't have english subtitles, or are simply too expensive, it's why I'm intrigued by those taiwanese cheaper versions...

Are they just copies of the HK or US releases (by any chance) only without extras?
Are they any good? (especially the PQ)
Are they worth a buy? (again shipping to France is expensive)

Thanks in advance for every answers I could get.

i own 2 from that list: SPL & Runnning Scared. AQ/PQ/subtitles are good on SPL. Running Scared is cropped 1.78:1even though the box says 2.35:1 1080p.

If you have been to TAiwan you should find a lot of Asian movies / foreign independent titles are released in bluray for a retailed price around NT$ 200 (US$ 6.5) but most of their quality may not even better than DVD. the optical media IS blu-ray but the content not necessary is. if you pay $20 for a budget taiwanese bd, you are overcharged.

A Taiwanese movie "Cannot Live Without You (No Puedo Vivir Sin Ti)" is released, and it can be found here

This blu-ray is released by ATOM.

Guys, which are the best prices to order from if you are from Europe/UK? I have seen Books.tw and JSDVD, but the shipping is about as much as the DVD/BD itself. I wondered if there many other sites offering Tai DVD/BD?

Thanks!
