USA The Matrix re-released Jan 12 2010 in Standard Amaray Case

The Matrix Blu-ray

'The Matrix (Non-digibook)' Blu-ray Announced
Mon Dec 28, 2009 at 02:00 PM ET
Tags: Warner Brothers, Disc Announcements (all tags)

Digibook haters will finally be able to pick up the Wachowski Brothers' Blu-ray in January.

In an early announcement to retailers, it seems Warner Brothers is preparing 'The Matrix' starring Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne for a non-digibook Blu-ray release on January 12.
Specs and supplements haven't been announced, but the disc likely will be the same as the previously released digibook version.

.... I am not a fan of this movie however I'm sure theirs a lot of people who are.. if you don't like digibooks I'm sure youll be looking foward to this, i can't wait until The Green Mile gets rereleased nondigibook.

I think they should bring out the other 2 separately on this date as well.

Here's a dumb question... but what the hell is a "digibook" and why do people seem to hate them so much?

I figure I've probably seen one before and didn't know it, but I know when The Matrix came out I looked at it and didn't notice anything other than it not being in a regular blu case.

It's like a book. Hard cover front and back, pages in the middle. Only the back cover has the indentation for the disc. I kinda liked it, but it is different.

Ahhh, gotcha. Thanks.
I guess I wouldn't mind as long as the book has some sort of clasping device to keep it shut so it doesn't spill open every time you grab it from the shelf.... seems risky if the disc would be loose

Good news for those who dislike digibooks. I like mine.
As other have said, that would be a good time to release the others separately. It seems like we are waiting for a lot of that; Batman Returns for me.

Because its a book instead of a case and looks out of place?

honestly i don't mind them but if they have it in both ill pick up the actual case, not a HUGE fan of the matrix but i went ahead and bought the complete collection weeks back for 50

Not a dumb question at all - I had no idea either - and I'm scary smart

Count me in on this as well. It'd be nice.

Although I have The Matrix digibook, I have noticed the box set has come down considerably in price recently. I've been tempted to just get it, but the release of The Matrix as a regular-case release brightens hope in the Reloaded and Revolutions also getting separate releases.

For the record, I like the digibook release of The Matrix.

their so big, and i hate taht flap of paper on the back of the digibook held on by a touch of glue, you can pull it off very easliy, my little brother has the Matrix Digibook, and i was like what the hell is this,... the blu cases are nice and small, very sharp looking

Ya, I don't like them because they are a different size than the other cases and they don't match on the shelf.

I wish they would release the other 2 movies separately as well. Like they are doing with the Bourne trilogy.

it's like 1/2 a cm larger and that paper is SUPPOSED to be taken off...

It's all a matter of preference, like anything else. I thought it was well done on the Matrix - unique looking for the 10 year anniversary. I haven't seen any others, but I don't think I'd want an entire collection of digi-books on my shelf.

Very excited about this. Matrix and Blu-Ray just seem to go together, but I haven't bought it yet because I fall into the dislike side of the digibook debate. I'll definitely buy The Matrix in a regular blu-ray case.

I've been holding out on purchasing the Matrix collection. Still hoping they release Reloaded and Revolutions as single titles...
