No love for this movie? I almost bought the DVD off amazon just a few days before the announcement. Lucky I held out!

I'm really looking forward to it. A lot of people either didn't get the movie or hated it for some other reason, but I thought it was hilarious. One of my favorite Tim Burton movies.

This is one of 3-4 Burton movies I've ever actually enjoyed. I'll totally buy it.

Thumbs up

I am a big fan of Mars Attacks.

I don't think I'll re-buy it though... I'll just hang on to my CD.

Although a few non-studio DVDs were available before the national rollout in September 1997 ("The Substitute", "Cutthroat Island" etc). I pre-ordered and picked up "Mars Attacks!" and "Batman" (1989) on the day DVD launched. So yeah, I've been waiting a while for this one.

(Still remember wowing my friends with this when no one knew what DVD was)

I was in Wash. D.C. when they were filming the crowd scene as the flying saucer lands before the aliens go into the joint session of congress. We were walking by and saw a large crowd standing. I asked someone what was going on and I was told they were filming a movie called Mars Attacks.

a totally misunderstood movie-- in that year Independence Day was the big hit and Mars Attacks was the big flop!
While I enjoyed ID4 very much, this was the better film-- great cast, great humor, great fun from beginning to end-- can't wait to see this on blu

I hope this finally gets the Special Edition it deserves, imo. Hopefully a little more effort will be put in compared to, let's say, the Beetlejuice disc.

Very lucky. The DVD pic quality is just awful.

Great news though. I think I'll get it. I like the film a lot

To be fair, Mars Attacks! was the one of the very first DVDs. At least it was anamorphic.

Aside from a couple of stumbles, Burton's features have fared pretty well on BR, so I think this one is a safe buy, provided the price is right: $15 or below.

For which role? The president or the real-estate huckster.

My favorite part of the movie is one no one really talks about. Androgenous reporter at the press conference asks "Do the martians have two sexes... like we do?" I think it's just the look on Martin Short and Jack Nicholson's face. It's hilarious.

This is one of my wife's favorite movies. We bought the DVD about a year ago for less then $10 from Amazon. When we got the order, they gave us two copies of it. No doubt she'll want the BD if it comes.
