Favorite "Classic" Horror Icon??? - Blu-ray Forum

Ok since I mostly do modern polls and I know we have a lot of old school fans who prefer older films and such. I figured and by request to make a poll for the classic horror icons as well. I had a couple of opinions on who to put on the poll and who not to so this is the list I came up with. Vote for who is your favorite of these original horror icons. These are the guys that got the genre started! No modern characters here strictly old school. Again I did get input from others for this poll so if the character u like isnt on the poll and its an old school icon then just vote for the next favorite on the list. Just to let it be known there were 2 characters I didnt know what to do with (King Kong & Godzilla) but after discussions and such I decided to leave those 2 off as they are more monster/sci-fi and not necessarily horror. Wanted that to be known before it was brought up. Remember vote for your "favorite" icon not necessarily the greatest! Anyhoo lets get this goin. My favorite classic horror icon has to be..........

I voted for Dracula -- you can't go wrong there. But, my favorite would have to be Norman Bates.

I consider Norman Bates more modern. I included him on the modern icon list. I would say the cutoff is between the 50's-60's and he fits more of the modern horror icons. I would even say he is the first modern horror icon in my eyes. Got Em!!

I voted Frankenstein, but it really is a toss up between it & Bride of Frankenstein, they are equally great.

I bet i've seen every Christopher Lee dracula movie! LOL!

I chose Frankenstein's monster as the most iconic (Lugosi's Dracula could be too), but there are some great films you mentioned. The Black Cat isn't iconic, but it's a cool movie. Karloff & Lugosi at their best.

Well remember u are suppose to vote for your favorite not the greatest. but yes I have seen a few but obviously along time ago but I am familiar with most of these icons except maybe Doctor X and Dr. Caligari. Got Em!!

The Cabinet of Dr Caligari is really good and really weird. It's not for everyone -- it's a 1919 silent film -- but it's one of the first real horror movies. And if you see a good print with a good score, it still has some eerie scenes in it.

I know it sounds cliche' with the new one coming out, but Wolfman was always my favorite! It just wouldn't have been the same without Lon Chaney Jr. in the role. He always maintained that sympathetic character, even in his 5th appearance as the Wolfman in Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. What a classic!!!

This is going to be truly hard to decide on. I am a huge fan of classic horror and classic sci-fi films. I have a collection of about 350 toys, fiqures, models, and so on that are dedicated to this type of film making. About 200 dvd's and blu-rays of classic horror and sci-fi. I love them all, including I was a Teenage Werewolf, The She Creature, This Island Earth, The Alligator People (with Lon Chaney Jr, his real name was Creighton Chaney), how many of you have seen that film ?. The 30's, the 40's, the 50's, those years were simply littered with this type of film. Man, lol, this is going to take some time ..............

Me! I have the DVD. Beverly Garland is in that one too.

We have similar tastes -- I have a huge collection of classic horror, datring back to the silent era.
