That is a really good price for all the features that TV has going for it, on top of screen size. Def hoping it gets good reviews, and then gets black friday treatment

I just finished talking to a marketing person for Vizio and ask her if she has seen the 72". She said she saw it at CES this year and was "blown away with the quality of picture"

Maybe the PQ is going to be pretty good.

I hope what she told you is true. However, she is a Vizio marketing person so I wouldn't put too much stock into what she says. Hopefully, it turns out to be true though.

What did I do??

All I was doing was calling Vizio for a neighbor who is legally blind and who wants a new TV. I thought the new 72 might work for him (BIG and not to much $$$). That is what I was doing. Along with what the girl at Vizio said.

Oh I'm sorry - I thought you were being facetious by quoting what a "marketing" person said about their own product.

I have a feeling this is probably going to end up being my 3DTV as long as it holds up in the PQ department.

Good video on youtube. TV looks massive compared to the people interviewing next to it.

Do yourself a favor the next time u go out to check HDTVs look at the picture Quality of the Vizio and then the Samsung u will see a big difference. Some retailers do not even carry the Vizio like Best Buy because they know it is a substandard brand. Also, check out reviews of HDTVs by brand and u will see that Samsung usually rated at the top if not very near the top. Even LG or Panasonic are better than ViZio. If u are going to spend a lot of money on something u might as well spend a little more on a better brand than to waste a lot on crappy brand.
Thats what I was thinking. I mean Vizio is that cheap crap you see at wallmarts set up near the bargin bin dvds. They usually have it hooked up directly to a bluray player and it still doesnt even look HD. Still though I think maybe I just havent seen their good stuff. The specks on this set sound amazing. I think of how far LG has come from crap to some pretty decent stuff. Anyone ever seen a good Vizio?

Before submitting FUD to this thread, do some research.

The Vizio 551 has received very good reviews from Cnet, Home Theater magazine, Secrets of Home Theater, etc. It's not perfect, but none of them are.

http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/t...551xvt-led-lcd

http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-t...-33485116.html

Vizio doesn't sell at Best Buy because that has not been their business model to this point in time. Best Buy would be happy to carry select Vizio sets since they sell well. Best Buy is out to make money.

Magnolia (Best Buy) may be carrying the upcoming PRO series from Vizio....we will have to wait and see.

Samsung has done itself a huge disservice by completley going away from Backlit LED sets (8500) and going to edge-lit sets which have received poor reviews. Screen uniformity issues.....brighter at the edges.....poor black levels. They have done this because people like extremely thin sets and they can make these cheaper and make extra profit.
