Default Halloween 4 & 5 - No schedule to release at this time

Emailed Anchor Bay and here was their response.

"At this time we do not have anything on the schedule for Blu-ray releases on these titles but I’ll be sure to add it to our list."

How about you email whoever is in-charge of the F13 movies, and get to release part 4!!! After part 4, it gets kinda crappy with F13!

Halloween 4 and 5 is ....ugh......

Tell them to release Halloween 2 first off!

I can't pretend to understand Anchor Bay's blu philosophy, but it would surprise me if H4 + 5 didn't see the light of day sooner rather than later. I would actually be a bit surprised if October came and went without them hitting blu.

That would just leave 2+3 as the blu gaps... and I suspect it'll take Universal a loooong time to get to those.

I agree with Halloween 2 needing a proper special edition release on blu (and DVD too I guess). I'm surprised they haven't done this yet. Halloween 4 is great though. Part 5... not so much. But I actually like part 4 better than part 2.

As for Friday the 13th, I can't agree. Parts 6 and 7 are my favorites of the whole series (with parts 1 and 4 up there as well). They need to release them all!

Laurie Strode is ultimately what makes Halloween 2 feel inferior to H4. Too much of that movie was her drugged and dazed, stumbling around the hospital.

F13 Part 7 deserves the HD treatment if only to see the amazing makeup effects they'd done on Jason. That scene of him stepping out of the lake with this shirt torn and his spine and ribs showing through was creepy. It was also the best he's ever looked without his mask on. Also, like FVSJ, the opening revisits the kills from the earlier movies and gives you a sense of how good parts 4 thru 6 will look when they debut on blu.

That's true. However, Donald Pleasance is in the spotlight WAY more, as he kinda becomes the centralized charactor, and that makes up for it. He's way over the top, and has that high pitch squeel when he speaks. Love it!

Then again, her being drugged and dazed really adds to the horror factor in that she cannot move very well, and that she's stuck where she's at.

I need to watch parts 4 and 5 again as it's been way too long. I can guaranee you that the consensus is that 2 is the best Halloween sequel, and from what I can remember, i'd have to agree with this.

From all the interviews with Carpenter about H2 I've heard his heart wasn't really in it when he wrote it. Despite the last film having an open ending he couldn't find any real place to take the premise to pad out a second film (he conceived the Laurie being Michael's sister idea at the last minute). Sadly I think Carpenter's lack of enthusiasm shows in the finished film, even if he wasn't the one directing it.

By comparison, H4 seemed closer in recreating the ambiance of Carpenter' first film than even H2 did. Also I like what Donald Pleasance was able to do with Loomis this time around, look at the scene where's he's hitchhiking and picked up by the preacher. It was nice to see him actually expand a little on his character, which he didn't have the opportunity to do in Halloween 2.

Well said. H4 is very under-rated and feels much stronger as a sequel to the first film. 2 feels like a retread with none of the subtle elements. H4 gives us a strong heroine, a babysitter storyline and a much more interesting Dr. Loomis. Is it a great film? No. It's much stronger than 2, 5, 6, 8...

I'd say the most "respected" of the sequels was H20. It got the most mainstream success and critics seemed to respond to it. Halloween 2 was hailed as "stronger" when we just had 1-6 but I think it was just due to having the same "visual" look of the first time (thank Dean Cundey for that) despite lacking in any of the creative storytelling or narrative structure that made the first film work so well. Halloween is a classy horror film comparable to Hitchcock's greatest. Halloween 2 has more in common with Friday the 13th...

That would be Paramount's job.

They released 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 on DVD.

I'm not sure who owns 2.

I may be imagining things, I dunno. But I recall Anchor Bay announcing that they have a big batch of horror movies to release on Blu-ray and I believe Halloween was mentioned.

Yeah, but that was in 2009, here's the link to the original post about it.

http://www.horrordigital.com/vb3foru...ad.php?t=39284

Out of the entire lot we've gotten only The Evil Dead, and Image might have received AB's Hellraiser 2 and The Hills Have Eyes assets, which is why they are releasing such a huge batch of horror blu-rays in such a short amount of time. No Halloween 4 and 5, no C.H.U.D., no Demons 1 or 2, no Phantasm, no Dawn of the Dead Ultimate Edition. AB was even working on Creepshow 2 (as they mentioned it late last year or early this year) and Image is even releasing that one as well. Anchor Bay released I Spit on Your Grave and two Jodorowsky classics this year and there has been no other news in terms of their back catalog.

I hope Anchor Bay/Starz sells all their rights off to companies like Image, Blue Underground, Shout Factory, Severin, Synapse, Dark Sky/MPI, and other companies willing to release genre films and do them justice with new scans+masters, good video and sound quality, and nice extras. I don't want to see Echo Bridge (old and/or tv masters, poor quality control), Mill Creek (old and/or tv masters), or perhaps even Lionsgate get any rights to these films (Lionsgate mainly due to using old video masters, other than that they have low prices, nice sound, and keep the dvd extras, they are capable of doing special editions though).
