India/Bollywood My Name Is Khan on Blu-ray?

Hi! what do you guys think are the chances of the newly released movie My Name Is Khan releasing on Blu-Ray when the DVD releases??? the movie stars ShahRukh Khan and Kajol, is directed by Karan Johar and is distributed by Fox Searchlight around the world. None of Karan's other movies have released on Blu-Ray yet, so what do you think the chances of My Name Is Khan are since it is bought and distributed by Fox??? thanks!

chances are high, given thats its released by Fox (20th Century Fox in the UK, and Fox Searchlight in the US), and also thats its doing very well (early reports, but still). simultaneously releases are pretty standard now for the big studios. and as for India, Fox Star released Slumdog Millionaire, didn't the DVD and blu-ray of that come out together?

i'd say 3-4 months. When Sony released Saawariya, it came out in cinemas November but DVD/blu-ray was released in (following) May... and Chandni Chowk To China as well, by Warner Bros. in May, even though film was released in January. But both of those didn't do well, so maybe they weren't terribly bothered... but since MNIK is doing well, lets hope Fox do this properly, and don't make us wait too long...

And the fact that none of Karan Johar's films have released on blu-ray yet, really has nothing to do with the possible blu-ray of Khan.
(Dostana was his production... depends on how you want to look at things...)

I think it's so likely that it would SHOCK ME if it didn't get a BD release. I'm so sure it will get handled well because of the connection with Fox. It's a movie that I also know a lot of non-Indians are talking about, if that says anything.

With Fox handling this, it should look stellar on blu-ray..

I think this will set the standards of what Bollywood cinema should look like on Blu.

With no confirmed release date or for that matter any statement by Fox, regarding the BD of 'My Name Is Khan', how come you already have it for pre-order on your website, that too with fake cover art?

Thank you for responding. May I suggest, that you simply not use any artwork, fake or otherwise, until you have the actual artwork. That would definately be more professional, also it might be a good idea to list titles for pre-order, only after the actual details of the title are confirmed and atleast a street date to go along. Also, may I also suggest that you please pay more attention to the technical details listed for various titles, specially the correct use of technical terms. For eg.

Media: DVD <-- Should be, 'Media: BD'
Brand: 20Th Century Fox Blu-Ray Disc <-- Should be, 'Company: 20th Century Fox'
BD Format: High Definition Widescreen (1.33:1)1080P <-- Should be, 'Video: AVC 1080p 2.35:1'
Region: All Regions (A,B.C) Multiregion, Blu-Ray Disc <-- Should simply be, 'Region: A,B,C or Region Free'
Language: English, Hindi <-- Should be, 'Audio: Hindi - DTS-HD MA 5.1'
Currently your site seems to suggest, that there will be a English dub on the BD. Personally I would be willing to bet, that is not the case.

Hoping you will take this as constructive criticism & suggestions and not an attack on yourself or your website.

PS: You might want to revise the specifications that you have posted for 'My Name Is Khan' on blu-ray.com Based on Fox's well established history of BDs, they will definately not have the silly & redundant 'Dolby Digital 2.0' track. Also I seriously doubt that an English dub of the film will be provided.

Its not about being picky, its more about not misleading customers when you dont know the details. A lot of times bollywoodblu-ray.com lists movies that are going to come out and its been a while since they listed them and they havent been released. What is worse is that they let you pre-order them. No offense towards bollywoodblu-ray.com but in general I really feel that they should put up information when they have everything in hand.

Well, I can kind of agree though. The better a site is a designed, the better the chances a person will visit it again. Plus, online stores are tricky. It's hard to trust just any store as reliable, but BollywoodBlu-Ray.com is very good with the selling/shipping end, so it wouldn't hurt to spruce things up in the interface, right?

Thanks for the info though.

I suppose some of us are suckers for honesty and correct information.

So does that justify making up specs? Would it not be more honest and professional to simply state 'not available', as most other professional sites do, instead of posting incorrect and misleading specs.

LOL, that's amazing. Like the second person said, I'm surprised it's not out already. Actually, it usually is on SOME websites the day the film releases, without subtitles.
