Default Anyone having issues with their Sammy BDP-1600?

I haven't had a single issue with this thing until today. Received two movies from Netflix, Bronson and Law Abiding Citizen. LAC is working fine, but Bronson will not load. I'll get a quick "spinning loading image" that goes away after 2 seconds, then....nothing. Is there supposed to be a new firmware update coming for the 1600? I hope this doesn't become a problem with future new releases.

I contacted Samsung several times about playback problems for the 1600. I was told a firmware update was coming. That was back in January. I thought turning BD-Live off fixed the problems I am having, but they resurfaced, even on some blurays that have not caused problems before! I am not on Netflix. These are blurays from my collection!

I have a Sony 570 on order. The 1600 is my second(and last!) Samsung bluray player!

After suffering many, many issues with playback problems with my 1600, and tired of Samsung not admitting it was a firmware issue - called them several times, I bought a SONY BDP-S360 and all I can say is that I'm glad I did!

I've had nothing but problems with my 1600. After a few moths it stopped reading blurays discs. Everything else worked fine. I called Samsung and their fix was to reset the player and reload the firmware. It worked.....for about a day. Then the problem was back. The fix continued to work, but I had to do it every time I payed a disc. Then, suddenly, the fix stopped working. Then it started working again, but only if the first disc I put in after the reupdate was Sons of Anarchy (no, Im no making this up.) If I updated again and put SoA in, that would trigger something and any other disc would load fine afterwards. Until I powered off, then I had to do it again. Now, even that does not work. Samsung just feeds me the same thing everytime I call, despite the calt Ive told them their fix does not work. As soon as I can afford it, IM buying an Oppo. Until then I have an expensive paperweight and 128 unwatchable movies.

are either of you using a usb thumbdrive for memory back-up. since i added my 2gb drive, i haven't had anymore trouble. mine never was problematic. my firmware has not needed an update for months. i have only had trouble with a couple of bad rented discs & one store bought disc that was warped.

My player has worked mostly fine except for one significant issue: it will not load the disc menu of some DVDs (e.g. Dexter Season 3, Moon, etc..) The screen just goes black. The DVDs can still be played but none of the features--including chapter menus--can be accessed. Fortunately the player is sitting on top of my Toshiba HD-A2 which has worked flawlessly for the last 4 years.

I have only ever had one disc that would not play in my player. I tried multiple discs and still had no luck. I don't have the 1600. I have the Pio. I called their tech support and they told me that once in a while that some players will not play certain discs because of the format it was recorded in. It makes sense, but from what I can tell my player is able to play both formats and I have played other movies from that same studio. Kind of strange, but I took it for what it was.

The only movie I can't get to play on my 1600 is American Pycho. I have the latest firmware and I tried sticking in a USB drive for memory or whatever and nothing. Its not connected to the internet or anything. I just get a loading screen and it goes away, leaving a black screen. Very sad about it.

And see, before my player decided it wasn't a blu-ray player anymore, I never once had a problem playing American Psycho.

The Samsung forum at CNet is like a disaster zone these days.

Beware of Samsung firmware upgrades. They often introduce new problems instead of fixing the existing ones. That's if you don't brick your system trying to upgrade it. Then they want 80$ to fix it.

Lots of title compatibility problems too. Watchmen is a mess on it. It jumps all over the place.

--edit--

Firmware 2.06 just recently came out. Said to improve playback with certain titles, but that's as far as they go detail wise. Usual vague patch notes. I'm watching Watchmen to see if the skipping problem remains...
