Default Configuring speakers with my receiver - Help!

I recently purchased a pair of Polk RTI A1 bookshelf speakers and a Polk CSI A4 center speaker. When configuring my speakers on the receiver setup page it asks for what Hz I want it set at? The Hz range on my center is 55Hz-27KHz and my range on the fronts are 50-27000 Hz. What do I set my Hz at on my receiver? The low end or high end? There is also an option for the sronts to input "Full Band", whatever that means. Any advice?

Also, what does this mean? LPE of LFE - range of options is 80, 100 or 120 Hz
And what is "double bass"? I can set that on or off.

I'm guessing where it asks what Hz you want it set to that's probably asking you to set the crossover frequency. This is the point where frequencies are transitioned back and forth between a subwoofer and your regular speakers.

LPF of LFE stands for Low Pass Filter of Low Frequency Effects. The LFE is essentially the .1 in a 5.1 or 7.1 setup. It's a channel specifically meant for the subwoofer. It's best to have that set at 120Hz because the LFE channel information can go that high. However, if your sub is localizable then you can back off of it until you can't tell where the sub is while listening to it. Lower it to 100Hz and then to 80Hz.

You have to answer a couple of questions before we can help any more.

1) What model of receiver are you using?

2) Are you using a separate subwoofer, and if so what kind?

It's an Onkyo TX-SR605S 7.1 channel receiver and right now (until I save up more money to upgrade) my sub is the one that came with my old Polk home theatre in a box RM6750 package.

My speakers seem to have an annoying "buzzing" sound when I crank the volume up with the receiver. Any idea what could be causing that?

I had a feeling it was an Onkyo from the way you worded the options it gave. I used to have one myself.

Ok, you do not want to set your speakers to full band (or full range). Where it's asking you for a Hz setting (crossover), you can try 60Hz or the universally accepted 80Hz. Leave double bass off.

Double bass means it would send the full range signal to the mains and to the subwoofer. Your mains can't reproduce the full range of frequencies and that's why you have a subwoofer. That's also why you should leave this off.

Thanks for the info. Any idea what could be causing that annoying buzzing sound at higher volumes?

Is it coming from all the speakers? What about the subwoofer? And how high is the volume we're talking about here? Have you run Audyssey yet?
