Default Buttered popcorn and kids

Do you worry about kids and their greasy buttered hands in your media room? I feel like an ass telling my wife to make "light" or "no butter" popcorn, but no one else seems to care that the kids like dragging their hands along the walls.

Is it just me?

I'd be the same way. I hate it when I pick up a remote with pizza grease on it.

It's pretty bad popcorn if you need to smear grease on it - butter, or any other kind.

Yeah, I don't do kids drinks at all in that room unless its one of the little waters. Adults can have beers and cocktails--thats cool. Only had two beers spilled so far and it cleaned up really well.

I agree totally, though it's not a problem in my house. The problem is when 4 or 5 of my kid's friends come over and scream POPCORN! and my wife goes and gives them each a bowl. Even with almost no butter, all it takes is one hand on the wall.

So anyway, just seeing if I'm over reacting or what. I just like trying to keep things nice....but it's usually at the expense of me sounding like a douche.

You have a lot of courage letting 4-5 kids in your HT room, not sure I ever would

I have no kids and I'll add this to the list of reasons to keep it that way

I do melt butter for my own popcorn but i am careful with it, being the owner of all your stuff you tend to think about things like that.

About getting fat, I am 6' 140 lbs, and the only way I gain weight is by lifting weights. I only worry about my arteries clogging...

Off topic, I bought Toy Story 1&2, and the Pirates trilogy for my girlfriend's birthday on the 15th... grr I want to watch them now!

Mine are 2 and 1. So no, I haven't worried about it yet. I'll be making sure the papertowels are close by. That or we'll just stick with non-buttered popcorn. We usually pop our on the stove top with a whirly popper (self turned) with olive oil and just a bit of salt. Yum................

It's not just you. Grease stains can be permanent on fabrics, and it can also discolor some paints and finishes. Fortunately for me, my son is 12 and he gets it, for the most part. I still have to remind him constantly to wipe his hands before touching the theater chairs or other stuff in the room. When he has friends over, I probably become a bit of a paranoid freak.

We built our home theater / game room with one of the hopes being that my son and his friends would prefer to hang at our place. That way, we could keep good tabs on him as grew older.

Careful what you wish for, right? I guess I'd rather have a few grease smudges and popcorn between the seats if it meant he and his friends were safe.

well I have these in my home theater, not promoting the site or anything but only place that still has them that I know of. Putting aside the buttered popcorn is bad for you and all that. They really do the trick paid like 10 bucks for 5 of them. It's a hell of a lot easier cleaning these plastic fork things than remotes or furniture. The shaker top is a cool feature too.

Kids might think they are not cool but once they use them they get HOOKED!!!
