Australia Why are Pixar Blu-rays so damn expensive?

Is it just me or do Pixar Blu-rays sell for no less then $40? While a movie such as "Up" is great I just can't justify paying $40 for it. Why can't they sell at the same price as other new releases at $30 max?

The most i've paid is $30 (for up with the dvd and blu ray) on opening day because I couldn't wait to import it. Anyway, try cdwow.com.au and 101cd.com for all your titles, (I just got the hurt locker and drag me to hell shipped to my doorstop for $30 and some change).

The reason why, is because people continue to pay the ridiculous prices we Australians are asked to pay. Easiest way to cause a change is to simply refuse to pay that much, there's no reason why one should ever pay anymore then $25AU (at the very most) for a blu ray (unless it's some super, uber collection or steelbook etc...).

The prices I've seen for Pixar films usually tend to be between 25-30 dollars with the exception of Monsters Inc which is like $33 or something along those lines. Hopefully the prices will go down... one day

Pixar is Disney isn't it? They are like 20th Century Fox, their titles are always expensive compared to other distributors. Being the multi-billion dollar company they are, they are not at all phased if the odd customer doesn't buy one title, as there is plenty more that will.

Like Suntory said, as long as people are paying it, it will continue to have high prices.

For these types of titles I just refuse to buy locally due to price. On release they are OK but rarely do you see "catalogue" prices on Pixar titles.

During the recent BOGOF sale at Amazon Uk I scored big time. For a very short time they listed a number of the titles at £12. It was insane. I managed to score Toy Story (slipcover) BD/DVD combo, Toy Story 2 (slipcover) BD/DVD combo, Monsters Inc. (slipcover) 2 disc set and the Wall-E 2 disc set for a total of $49 and change. Just crazy at less than $12.50 a title. Not a huge fan of Pixar films in general (they're OK, but normally not my thing), but knowing the quality of them and that the kids will naturally get into them in a few years it was an obvious purchase.

atexp80, can you please confirm that all of your Pixar movies came with slipcovers. If so I will contact blahdvd.com and ask why I didn't receive them (see below)

I imported Toy Story 1 & 2 from blahdvd.com. They didn't have slipcovers, and given that my other Pixar Blu's all have slipcovers, I was a little surprised. I am a huge fan of slipcovers.
