Hey guys I saw on inetvideo.com they have Several great hits from Alliance that aren't available in the USA yet. The few I was interested in are

Mortal Kombat 1,&2
Swingers
Faculty
Young People F***ing
Spawn
Seven

How does their quality rate for AQ and PQ. I hear they skimp on extras which I don't mind. But Id still like the best PQ and AQ possible.

Mortal Kombat 1,&2 - (MK1 has DD 5.1 audio), Good PQ
Swingers - Mediocre PQ
Faculty - 1080i, Mediocre PQ
Young People F***ing - Good PQ
Spawn - DD 5.1 audio, Poor PQ
Seven - 1080i, GOod PQ

all of these releases are cropped to 1.78:1 and do not have subtitles

IMO the BEST Alliance blu-rays are Sin City and Equilibrium. Sin City is actually presented in it's original aspect ratio and Equilibrium is open-matted to 1.78:1, not cropped. (Both movies have subtitles and equilibrium actually has a 4 minute featurette)

The Blade trilogy isn't bad. The first 2 films are cropped, but the PQ and AQ is solid throughout the first 2 films and improves greatly for the third.

The Faculty is actually 1080p, the back cover is wrong in our favor for once. Looks quite good actually, the video quality is a HUGE bump over the non-anamorphic 11 year old DVD.

Mortal Kombat is 1080i with DD5.1, decent looking enough, again an awesome upgrade over the horrific non-anamorphic DVD -- recommended if you can find it cheap!

Yes and no, effects shots are cropped, the rest of the movie is open matte.

ALL of the bolded films above are NOT CROPPED, & are virtually at their original theatrical exhibition. They were 1.85:1 in theatres, and are so very slightly opened up to 1.78:1 for home video. Its not just Alliance that does this, but also Warner Bros & other large US companies. Seven was originally 2.35:1 in theatres, & it too is OPENED UP to 1.78:1, giving more image (but is not what the director intended).

i apologize

i just got the info from reading the reviews on this site. I looked at the movie, saw OAR: 1.85:1 for most movies and then read the reviews of users complaining that they were cropped.

I didn't think that anyone who actually cares enough about movies to actually come on a forum and post reviews could possibly confuse an open matte and an actual crop... i was wrong, sorry

I own The Faculty BD and can confirm for a fact that it is 1080p despite the packaging claiming 1080i.

The transfer feels that it was made years ago, and while it's not the greatest transfer out there; it blows away the non-anamorphic DVD right out of the water.

It also a solid DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack to boot.

Honestly, if you're a fan of the film, buy it.
