Exclamation Any android users? Need pros vs cons

I am thinking about ditching my iPhone and Att for a android milestone (droid) on verizon. Does anyone here have a android and what are the pros and cons of the os vs an iPhone ? I love having a jailbroke iPhone but AT&T service has gone down hill fast. My wife doesn't want an iPhone and all of AT&T's otht phone are cheap and arnt worth a damn. Any help would be awesome. The new iPhone should be cool but in looking to possibly go another direction. Help me out guys!

I've been an Android user since it launched in 08. It's definitely come a long way, and I'd say the newer phones coming out are definitely superior to the iPhone (I've also been an iPhone user since their launch). I would check out the Incredible over the Milestone (which I believe is the Droid, yes?) unless you really want a keyboard, but with being an iPhone user I'm sure you're pretty used to a virtual.

The only thing I miss about the iPhone is the convenience of syncing my music with iTunes (although there is a program called Doubletwist that looks just like iTunes and works almost as well, and works for just about any phone) and a very small handful of apps that haven't yet migrated over to Android. I ended up ditching my iPhone 3GS in favor of the Nexus One and haven't looked back. The current iPhones feel incredibly dated to me now.

That's what I was wanted to hear lol from what I read you can "root" the android which is like jailbreaking right? My biggest gripe about the iPhone is there is no java. Almost all Audio and video streaming uses java.

And I'm not dead set on the "droid" that's the only one I've messed with. I need to find a nexus one to play with I guess I kinda don't like the keyboard on the droid so I would prob use the virtual keyboard anyways.

no.

the 4g iphone is worth looking at imo, but i think with 2.2 (hopefully launching today) google will push it over the edge again. add that with plenty of hardware options and an ever increasing app store, its hard to want to stay locked under apple's lock and key

i'd look more at the incredible and nexus one personally, or heck even the evo. droid ftl

I used an android once or a replicant. You really can't tell. It still nothing I'm particularly proud of.

Yes, you can root Android phones. Just like jailbreaking with the iPhone, it voids the warranty. However, also like the iPhone, SOME of the Android phones can be returned to stock to where they can't tell it was rooted. This is not the case for the Nexus One. The Droid I believe can be rooted and returned to stock. I previously had a MyTouch and rooted it, which yielded significant performance advantages. I haven't rooted my Nexus just because I want the warranty, but I can say that I haven't had the urge to since it already runs extremely well.

Google just announced they're closing up their online shop for the Nexus One, so it SHOULD be available in retail stores relatively soon so people can finally check it out hands-on. That would be my choice over the Incredible, just because it's basically the same phone and T-Mobile's plans are much cheaper than Verizon's. But, I know T-Mobile's coverage in some areas leaves a lot to be desired. The Nexus was originally scheduled to come to Verizon, but since they announced the Incredible, they nixed the plans, since it's essentially the same thing.

Another reason to go with the Nexus One is that Android 2.2 will be coming out very shortly, which is supposed to have MASSIVE performance gains over 2.1, as well as Flash support. As of right now, everything I've read is saying that the Incredible is not on the list of phones that will see 2.2 out of the gate.

Since when? Adobe isn't even working on Flash support for the iPhone anymore, since Jobbers pretty much said it sucks.

Thanks, that's exactly the information I was looking for By the way, do you actually have anything to contribute to a discussion about Android, or are you just here to try and pimp the "superiority" of the iPhone?

If what you're talking about is iMobileCinema or the bookmark plug in method, I would hardly call those "Flash support."
