How do you decide which blu-ray your going to buy?
For me I have them grouped in categories. I focus on collecting by Comedy/Drama/Horror etc When I get done with one category I go to the next one. In October I focus on the Horror titles and have a marathon How do you collect ? |

By price.
Whenever one gets cheap enough I buy it. The only time i'll look at a specific genre is leading up to halloween, I'll look for horror, but I try to buy in August or September before the prices are jacked back up. |

But I guess I buy them like this: 1) New releases 2) Upgrade "top faves" I have on an old format (DVD/VHS) 3) Older movies I may have missed 4) Upgrade older movies I have on an old format (DVD/VHS) I realize 2 & 4 are almost the same, but there are some older movies I can wait for and some I need "yesterday." |

Some films I plan on buying as soon as they come out, regardless of price.
Other times I have a rough idea of films I want, it's just a case of them dropping to a price I'm happy to pay. Sometimes I'll be out shopping and just grab one spur-of-the-moment ![]() |

I keep a list on my iPod Touch of all movies I want in three categories: already released, coming soon, and not yet announced. It usually depends on whether or not I have the extra money to spend on movies as well as if I'm in the mood to watch that Blu-ray. If I buy a movie it's usually to watch right away. I also usually only buy movies I know I'll watch several times.
I have about $400 in Amazon credit coming my way, so I'll be taking care of most of my coming soon list through October. ![]() |

This is how I started my Blu-Ray collection, too. About a month ago, I finally got to the bottom of my wishlist (took me 4-5 months), so now I just buy an occasional title if the price is right. I generally don't blind-buy Blus, also.

my checklist:
1) is the movie great? i'm not cluttering up my house with movies that are merely good. 2) is there any chance i will watch it again? 3) does the disc represent the best that can be done with the source material? |

Yeah, that's basically how I decide whether or not to buy a film. In particular, I resonate on #2 and then ask myself "Does my collection really need this title?"
