Default Paramount and Warner - WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP

Please feel free to copy this and post it far and wide

Everyone:

The best way to fight all of this is not through indignant emails, but through polite and very firm phone calls, and more importently snail mail letters to people on the executive level, not hapless promotions and marketing people.

It is VITALLY IMPORTANT that our voices be heard, not only at Paramount, but at Warner as well, considering that they have always had a preference for HD DVD , and the right offer could very well cause them to follow Paramount's lead

WHAT YOU CAN DO.

Make POLITE, BUT FIRM phone calls, and 10x more important SNAIL MAIL LETTERS. No one will hurt you if you do BOTH, to the people in power to let them know how important you feel that continuing Blu-Ray releases is, especially when we could have a single unified format soon. We all know that will be better for the company, better for the retailer, and better for the consumer in the end. HD DVD people who are lurking, if you truely believe in letting the consumer decide, please join us.

Please do not send emails, or make online petitions. A phone call is worth well over 1000 emails. A snail mail letter easily 10,000 to people at a company. A hand-signed petition is worth its weight in gold (if you do it, please do not fake or pad it, cause that'll count in the NEGATIVE category if anyone finds out).

These are the people with the power to make things happen, and where you need to direct your calls and letters. Remember: BE POLITE. I cannot emphasize enough that angry calls will turn them off real fast.

The sooner you start, the better people. Call NOW and write TODAY.

EDIT FOR EMPHASIS: You need to ask to be transferred to these people's offices when you call. DO NOT let them put you in the general mailboxes.

I'm too scared to call people in person about this. I'm not that great on phones, I get nervous especially when talking with strangers.
That is why email and snail mail works better for me.

Whatever works for you, but make sure it's a snail mail letter. Fed-Exing it would probably have even more impact for the Warner letter, especially since time is important (you can bet they're watching reactions). The fact that you spent the premium on FedEx would probably get you 10x the impact. It's what I'm doing.

Emails will essentially be ignored.

Remember: Be POLITE!

For Snail mail if you have some extra cash send it USPS certified (as opposed to FEDEX), signature required, receipt required...someone then has to sign for the letter at the office, certified mail is typically only sent for SERIOUS documents AND you get a receipt back showing who signed for it.

I'd like to add, emphasis on Warner. We may not be able to change Paramount right now, but why fight a war on 2 fronts if you don't have to?

EDIT FOR EMPHASIS: You need to ask to be transferred to these people's offices when you call. DO NOT let them put you in the general mailboxes.

Good idea... Paramount has always been a sell out. I just hope Warner doesn't become one to.

About Warners - Of course if they go with either format exclusively, how will anyone judge format sales of one title? The studios need to see more examples of BluRay outselling HD with a single title - like with "300". Also, Warners has their "total" HiDef disc in the works although they've put it off until next year. (incidentally, I'm new to this forum and have not had time to read all posts and threads, so if I've covered old ground, my apologies).

I am a tru-blu aussie lad that would love to help out by sending emails to these flaming galahs at Paramount, DreamWorks, Universal and Warner Bros. Does anyone have the email addresses for any of these studios?

Let's stand together and show them what the majority of consumers want.

United we stand.

Lo all,
I was very disappointed to hear abt the recent news and have therefore sent letters via fedex to the above addresses.
I am from india and cant believe that I cant watch transformers on Blu.
I cannot stand HD dvd and would rather die than watch a movoe on HD Dvd.
So everyone please send snail mails and lets hope things pan out for the better.
Cheers

Sent my letter to Paramount expressing my disappointment in their decision to support only HD DVD and also expressed that I will no longer be supporting their movies. Sent it a few weeks ago USPS certified mail. I would scan my post office slip but I think my word should be good enough, I don't BS.

Whatever makes you all feel good. Writing letters, emails, phone calls...it can't hurt anything just so long as you have realistic expectations about what you're doing.

The most important thing anyone can do is to just vote with your wallet.
