Default HELP which 1080P to buy??

I was looking at 2 sets, I now have a 42" Panasonic LCD but it's only 720p & 1080i....so I want to buy a 1080P tomorrow(Thursday). I was a BJ's looking at the Vizio 47" LCD 1080P (Model# GV47LF) read alota good reviews on it looked decent at store display....but next to it I noticed a Phillips that picture to be honest looked alot better & I could spare the extra $200 for a better picture!(Model# 47PF9441) it read & claim's to be 1080p but when looked on-line I read that it actually only accepts up to 1080i & then up-converts to 1080p thus really ever only being 1080i(30fps) no 1080p or 60fps what's the deal & what set should I go with I definatly need 1080p not 1080i/720p cause I already have a nice set for them, I want 1080p for my Blu-ray's.....ASAP Help is much appriciated, Thanks

What size and price range are under consideration? Do you know if you want LCD, Plasma or projection?

Hmm, an LCD true 1080p bigger than 42" may be a tough to get under $2000. 46" and up they are still pretty pricey...

Costco has the new 52" 1080p Vizio......it's price is $2199, but with a coupon until the 26th, it's $200 off or $1,999.

It's got 4 HDMI inputs and looks awesome.

Are you a Costco member?

That's too bad.

The 47" Vizio is terrific for the price, however what I've noticed is that is doesn't have a very good cotrast ratio so it appears to be a bit washed out.
I don't see this effect in the other Vizio sets including the 52".

The 47" just went down $200 when they released the 52" set.

Here is a review of the 47" set:

If you were really interested...........just saying.

The thing about the Vizio is that the screens are good quality and they just use cheaper components in the back end so you often end up with a less "state of the art" set than other brands but for the price they can't be beat.

As to the upconverting issue, well, if it upconverts then it's not 1080 and nothing will make it be. It won't be true 1080p unless it accepts the input.

Good luck though, I'm sure whatever you get will look great. BTW, the TV that I have is now $2500 at Costco. It's a bit more than you wanted to spend but it is an awesome set.

I've mow come across another Philips 47" LCD TV Model# 47PFL5432D/37 thruogh alot of searching on-line I have not found anywhere that say's this one is not TRUE 1080p HD...While the Philips(Model# 47PF9441) that claims to be 1080p through a search on google I found half the search results on page 1 say it's actually a 1080i only 1080p thruogh upscaling.....So just wondering if anyone knows anything about this Philips #47PFL5432D/37 I need to know if it is True 1080p HD(not upscaled) haven't found anywhere that say's otherwise but any1 with info much appriciated. The set's currentlt at Wal-Mart for less than $1700 plus I have a friend that works there so %10 discount.....If this set is Definatly Fully True 1080p I'm sold & will have it in home tomorrow!!
