Talking "The Glades" Official Discussion Thread

Series Premiere Sunday, July 11 10/9C
Quote:
Jim Longworth is an attractive, brilliant, yet hard to get along with homicide detective from Chicago who gets shot by his captain after being wrongfully accused of sleeping with his wife, and then forced into exile. Longworth relocates to the sleepy, middle of nowhere town of Palm Glade, Florida, where the sunshine and golf are plentiful and crime is seemingly at a minimum. Only this town outside the Florida Everglades isn’t quite as idyllic as he thought, as he finds people keep turning up murdered. Each case pulls Longworth off the golf course and reluctantly into his element as one of the sharpest homicide detectives to wear a badge.

Between practicing his short game, trying to get a date with Callie - a quick-witted, beautiful medical student with a 12 year-old son and a husband in prison - and trying to solve countless homicide cases, Longworth’s transition to his new surroundings is a bit more difficult than expected. He’s realizing the skies in this new town are always sunny...with a chance of homicide.

Haven't gotten the chance to read it yet, but this sure is a weird move, releasing the pilot script 3 weeks before the show even premieres.

In an unusual move, A&E have provided the script for the Pilot episode of The Glades to be downloaded/viewed before the Pilot airs. You can read the script here.

A&E’s Series Premiere Of ‘The Glades’ Is Most Watched Original Drama Series Telecast In Network History
Quote:
NEW YORK, NY – July 12, 2010 – A&E Network’s series premiere of the new original scripted drama series, “The Glades” on Sunday, July 11th at 10PM garnered a record-breaking 3.6 million viewers, becoming the most-watched original drama series telecast in network history, according to Nielsen Fast Nationals.

Garnering critical praise prior to its launch, “The Glades” also delivered a record 1.4 million viewers in the key 25-54 demographic, as well as 1.2 million viewers 18-49. Combined with the encore airing, “The Glades” was watched by a total of 5.1 million viewers for the premiere night of the series. The premiere episode also grew by 38% from its lead-in.

“We are very encouraged by the response that ‘The Glades’ has received from the press and our viewers,” said Bob DeBitetto, President & General Manager of A&E and BIO Channel. “The fact that the series was able to break through in a crowded summer landscape against heavy competition is a testament to the quality of the show and the incredible talent and performance of the show’s lead Matt Passmore.”

“The Glades,” a character driven police procedural set in the fictional town of Palm Glade, Florida, stars Australian actor Matt Passmore (“McLeod’s Daughters,” “Underbelly”), Kiele Sanchez (“Lost,” “Samantha Who?”), Carlos Gómez (“Shark,” “Sleeper Cell”) and Michelle Hurd (“Law & Order SVU,” “Gossip Girl”).

New episodes of “The Glades” air every Sunday at 10PM ET/PT on A&E.

“The Glades” is produced by Fox Television Studios for A&E Network. The series executive producer is Clifton Campbell (“White Collar,” “Profiler,” “21 Jump Street”) for Innuendo Productions and Gary Randall (“Saving Grace”) for Grand Productions, Inc. The series creator is Clifton Campbell.

Nothing ground breaking, but it's a fun summer show show far.

I have really been enjoying this show. Passmore is a great leading man, and Kiele Sanchez is just gorgeous. This is easily my favorite new show of the summer and with it's ratings I would imagine it should get an easy renewal.

I loved The Glades and hated the way it ended on a cliffhanger.

Tell me everything that you remember about this remarkable gentleman.

God bless you two and him and his family always!!!

P.S. My most favorite thing about Matt is his being able to keep his Australian accent even after scoring himself an American accent. By the way, how many hours ahead of us here in the states are those on the Australian continent and did they forward their clocks ahead too just like we had to here? I am in the eastern time zone.
