Default Looking for iTunes storage solution

Hey I have accumulated a lot of iTunes podcasts/music/video on my computer MacBook Pro to where I have no space on my HDD. Does anyone know how I can store it somewhere else but also have easy access to it? I have a 1TB external that I use for school and Time Machine.

Any help would be great

How can I access it via the hard drive instead of the computers hard drive?

I know you can store it but I want to still access it via iTunes from the hard drive. Can I do that?

By default, iTunes creates a folder on your computers hard drive, but you can have it where ever you want as long as it's still connected to your computer. You just have to tell iTunes where the folder is located at.

I have my whole iTunes library on my external drive and I have no problem.

I'm using a Toshiba 80GB external HD with no issues here.

I don't store anything on my laptop because it's old and I'm afraid it will crash one day.

If you elect a new place for your itunes to point to, will it automatically relocate the prior data, or do these files need to be moved manually?
