Default Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

Chris Pine - fresh off the STAR TREK reboot as a young James T. Kirk. This guys' career is taking off it seems...

Talk about a reboot for sure, will they actualy show Jack Ryan wearing diapers and stopping a evil plot in kindergarden to steal all the chocolat bars from the snack machine

I don't think he quite fits the part, but who knows, he could be a great Jack Ryan. Just look what Matt Damon did.

Damon played Jack Ryan? Maybe I'm confusing the characters here but are we talking about the Harrison Ford, Alec Baldwin, Ben Affleck Jack Ryan? The one from The Hunt for Red October and Patriot Games? Did Damon play him at some point? I could be wrong.

Looking forward to this but I certainly hope they leave the others alone and go for a new story.

Perhaps this was a stab at sarcasm and I missed it...but when did Matt Damon play Jack Ryan? I know Matt Damon and Ben Affleck tend to be joined at the hip but...

LOL - Guys, he's obviously referring what Damon did as JASON BOURNE (same Spy type Action/thriller series) - gesh - who needs more coffee?!

As for him being Too Young or not fitting the part, who doesn't think he did a Great job as KIRK in "Star Trek" this year? That movie rocked & he was very good in it. I believe this is very good casting but obviously we'll see. Look at what he's doing now & who he's working with. Very impressive... (Pine is currently filming the Denzel Washington-led, Tony Scott-directed action thriller "Unstoppable" for Fox.)

They might as well start with the book Red Rabbit

A little bit too young yep. Even in Red Rabbit Jack Ryan is already in his early 30's with a Phd completed.

The only story where Chris Pine could fit as he is now would be Without Remorse as Ryan is about to join the Naval Academy and the Marines. But that story is more about mister Clark & a young admiral Greer. I got no problem with young actors but try at least to make it look like it's in the story or the book.

No no, fellas, I was saying I didn't think Chris Pine fit the part for Jack Ryan. Just like a lot of people didn't think of Matt Damon as a super spy. But look how perfect he was in Bourne.

I know... it's early

Default Details on the Jack Ryan/Chris Pine Reboot

Quote:
There’s been no small amount of speculation about what the previously untitled Jack Ryan film starring Chris Pine will feature in terms of plot, where it might fit amongst the existing films starring Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck, and what it will mean for the character.

Now we’ve got a working title — Moscow — and some details about what we might expect from the script.

Pajiba reports that the film will find Ryan after his tour of duty as a Marine, before he joins the CIA. At that point the character is a stock broker, which will be a big part of the lead-in to the story. The title refers to the fact that, rather than working in Baltimore as the character did in the novels, he’ll be working as an advisor in Moscow for a private employer. As Pajiba’s report says, “It is that billionaire employer who eventually sets Jack Ryan up to take the fall for terrorist plot designed to collapse the U.S. economy.”
That’s more or less in keeping with producer Mace Neufeld’s previous statement about the film:

Quote:
We pick him up when he’s on Wall Street…[but] the Jack Ryan movies have never been action films. They’re kind of ‘thinking man’s thrillers.’ Jack is referred to as a ‘water-walker’ because of his ability to jump ahead to conclusions. That’s very big in all the Jack Ryan films and that’s how we want to portray him. He’s a teacher. He’s a historian. He’s a linguist. And he’s really smart.
From there the film gets into territory that is somewhat familiar for the series: there’s danger to his family and his own good name, and an enemy plot to uncover and thwart.

So the interesting detail is that Pajiba notes the script sounds a lot like Dubai, written by Adam Cozen and sold in 2007 to Jack Ryan / Moscow producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura. I won’t give up too many details about the similarities here, because I suppose they could be considered spoilerish, but you can check the original article if you’re really curious about points of comparison that may or may not hold true in the final tally. Last we heard, Cozen was tapped to rewrite Hossein Amini’s script for this new version of the character, so the idea of incorporating elements of Dubai doesn’t come out of left field.

Harrison did the part better than all. However, I am willing to give this one a shot.

I think it's great we will see his roots and how he got involved with the CIA in the first place. Though no one can replace James Earl Jones. I doubt they will bring him back though.

The Hunt for Red October has been the only good film...the rest are Crapola with the good Dr. Jones playing Ryan.
