Default Issues With Discs

I had read awhile back about Blu Ray movies degrading over time and not working. It started happening to me recently with Superman and now Enter The Dragon.

Not a scratch on them yet none of my 4 Blu Ray players can recognize them as anything. I have used DVD's with deep scratches that still work but these two movies with zero smudges or scratches won't work anymore.

I didn't see a thread so I apologize if one exists.

Maybe you have to upgrade the firmware.

Upgrade firmware of clean your laser. DVD's working has nothing to do with it as a separate laser is used to read the dvd's.

The notion of disc-rot causing read errors only occurs on disks that are scracthed deeply enough to pierce the protective coating and poorly stored causing corrosion.

Well, it also could be a manufacturing defect that develops over time - while it's not anywhere near the catastrophe it is was for Laserdisc, "laser rot" can affect DVDs if there were contaminants in the production process. It's very rare, though.

I don't think the PS3 has any firmware updates that aren't with the system updates.

The fact that it doesn't work on multiple players is the only reason I made this post.

I had a similar problem with Pineapple Express but it works on my actual Blu Ray player without issue.

What brand and model number players do you have?

And are all up to date on firmware?

I'll look into firmware updates on PS3 and my blu ray player and get back to you on that.

The PS3 updates firmware with the system update so I'm unsure how it can be anymore up to date.
