Canada Gladiator Replacement Disc for Canadian's

I am wondering if there is a way to get the replacement disc if you live in Canada. I've tried sending a email to Paramount but have not gotten a reply.

You could go back to the store you purchased it ... see if they have the replacement discs and swap them. You don't need a receipt. Alot of people have done this already.

My question is, has anyone in Canada found the replacement disc yet?

I believe the distinguishing feature is the lack of 2-disc set above the Blu-ray logo (in the bottom right corner) on the back cover.

I posted this earlier on the Gladiator Exchange Program news item, but here it is again:

Paramount Home Entertainment (US) are honoring exchanges from the "Great White North". The instructions and the address are the exact same as for our US counterparts.

Call the PHE number (1-888-889-9456) and speak to a CSR.

The CSR asks what colour the UPC is, yellow or white, and what the "N" code on the back of disc 1 is, which is very, VERY hard to read, by the way! I couldn't find it at first (you have to get the viewing angle just right), but she gave me the mailing instructions anyway.

The mailing address I was given is:

PHE MKT
c/o Deluxe Media Management
PO BOX 801464
Valencia, CA USA
91380-1464

Include your name, address and phone number in the envelope with disc 1.

I confirmed with her that there wouldn't be a problem being in Canada and she said "no problem, we are accepting them from 'all over'"... whatever that means.

Anyway, mine's going in the mail ASAP. Fingers crossed...

I am going to be down in Phoenix at the beginning of November and was thinking of picking up Gladiator, the so called replacement version. Can anyone verify that this is the only identifying feature? Or is there something else that can help confirm that I am getting the replacement version? Thanks.

I heard the lack of a security tape is also a sign. Also heard that the new ones would have a Yellow UPC code like all remastered discs. Not sure how true the last one in as some people have reported seeing it but some people haven't yet. You might get lucky in November when all the old stock gets cleared out and all you will see is Yellow UPC ones.

so the replacement discs aren't on canadian shelves yet? I might check at best buy later today anyways, but i'm not gonna get my hopes up of seeing the new versions (oh, i bet they'll have plenty of the old version just trying to trick people into buying them though)

*EDIT* Ok just got back from my best buy (just north of toronto) and As I expected, there were no gladiator with the Yellow UPC. Plenty of the old version though and the price was marked down to 25 bucks. Is it possible they are trying to sell off the old copies before they stock the shelves with the updated version?

I thought paramount would have the curtosy to pull all old copies so consumers weren't confused

Another way to check is the Slipcover. Check the back of it. According to TheDigitalBits, if it says 2-Disc [something] then it's the original. If it doesn't say anything about the number of discs, it is the Remastered one.

Default THe "new" Gladiator on Blu Ray

I heard that they now have an updated version (like a wayyyyy better version) on Blu Ray now. I'm thinking of picking it up. How do I know if it is the better version?

There should be one with either

1) Yellow UPC (have yet to see any)
2) One that doesn't have the 2-Disc Edition over the Paramout Logo on the back (but see my post above)

because with SPR, there was a audio error with the disc so all other discs were takin off the shelf so it had to be released large and be known, so ppl knew of the problem

with gladiator, paramount thinks that the 1st transfer was fine, and that they are not wrong for the 1st transfer,
no errors
which there really wasnt, except for the horrible transfer

so they decided to act like b*tches

Ok. So I guess the majority (who thinks that DVD and blu-ray has the same picture quality but bought a blu-ray player just to be cool) are happy with the first release.

I guess I'll just have to buy the bad version of Gladiator and mail it to paramount.

I ordered my Gladiator 10th Anniversary German blu-ray from http://www.grooves-inc.com/ and got the following e-mail 4 days ago......

Your shipment with the order number 1207433 is ready for dispatch today
(17.Nov.2010) and will be sent to you tomorrow and should reach you within
the next days.
Please note that we have no influence on the delivery time of postal
services and that items are despatched from Switzerland as stated in the
product description.

1 x Gladiator 10th Anniversary [Blu Ray Disc] Oliver Reed, Derek Jacobi,
David Hemmings

Thanks again you for your order.

Yours sincerely
Your Grooves Inc.-Team
http://www.grooves-inc.com/

Does anyone who ordered from them know if this is there official "shipped" e-mail or should I get another e-mail the day it ships? When I go to the web site and check my account it says... "Order #109607 (Delivered)" , but the order history says "been received" and the word "Kommentar" is next to that with nothing underneath it. Something else I noticed is that the order number on the web site is different than the one in the e-mail. That doesn't make sense as I only made 1 order. Any help would be appreciated.

(UPDATE: I got an e-mail back from their customer service department and it appears the above IS their notification of shipping. My blu-ray shipped on November 18th.)

While shopping at a GTA Futureshop today, I did see 1 Yellow UPC version there. So it looks like they are starting to trickle down.

Hopefully, it isn't the screwed up version, where they put the original release (non-remastered) in the yellow upc coded case.

So, I went down to Fargo for the B&N Criterion Sale ($120 gone) and I stopped into Walmart and they had a bunch of copies of the Yellow UPC Gladiator. $25.00, so It was a bit more but I didn't want to waste waiting to send in my UK version.

So after spending $145 USD in one day I came back home... and no duty.. Thank you Canadian Customs
