Default Should I stick it to Game Stop? Or just take the games back?

So yesterday I went to go buy Infamous, Metal gear and little big planet from Game stop. I took in a few games to trade I took Batman Arkum asylum ($13.00 store credit) I traded in (Alan Wake $18.00 store credit ) and Gears of war 2 ($12.00 store credit). While I was being rung up I noticed they sell most of these games almost $25.00 more then what they gave me oh well right. So I get the bag that the Customer service rep handed me walk out of the store.

When I get home I noticed not only did they give me the credit but the cashier gave me back my games? He literally put all 6 games in the bag and I'm at home thinking dam Should I take them back or just keep them? Let me tell you that I'm the type of guy that usually gives money back to a cashier if they give me to much change. I'ts just that this time I don't feel bad about it I feel like they have really robbed me with all the games I have traded in before. However my wife keeps throwing it in my face that karma is a *itch so I'm going to go take them back what would you guys have done?

I'd take them back if for no other reason they may not let you buy movies there any more or trade them in either. Not to mention it's not ethical or moral to keep them.

I say keep em. gamestop is a hugh rip off in the used game market. If they sell 1 used game they make their mony back on the games they gave you back. If they actually bought them off you for a fair price I would take them back, but they don't.

Yes but keeping games you shouldn't have will only force Game Stop to mark up their prices even more, is that really what you want to do?

Three games aren't going to mean anything to Gamestop overall, but it could get the cashier fired. You really should take them back. If you really want to stick it to Gamestop, stop shopping there!

yeah because Gamestop won't find a reason to f*** the customers on prices and whatnot, right? lol.

"Well we weren't GOING to, but since that guy took advantage of OUR MISTAKE then we have no choice but to mark up the prices on the games, thus FORCING you to buy them.

This will hurt US more than it'll hurt YOU."

They rip so many people off, it should be bad karma for them. I don't understand why people shop there, let alone sell games back. For example, you got $13 for Arkham. I wouldve paid $20 for it. You could get a lot more for your games by just selling them or selling to friends.

Do whatever you wanna do though.

Why people keep trading-in then? If they were that bad, they would be out of business. Nobody forces you to go there.

They're supposedly a good retailer to get refurbished systems from, which has to be a very good source of regular cash flow.

How are they ripping him off? He agreed to the terms. He chose to make the deal. Whether he wants to make an ethical decision is a different question all together, but no one was ripped off.

Because they by the game fron him for $13 and resell it for $55. And like I said in my next comment. The OP and many other people don't know any better what to do with their old games. That doesn't make it OK for Gamestop to do that.

keep them. they have screwed enough people. and as for doing the right thing... you'll have forgotten it in two weeks and then be praised a hero for slowly chipping away at the enemy known as game stop.

Really? I knew they raised the price but that's a ripoff.

I agree though, they steal from consumers daily. The only difference is their way is legal.

Yes it does. Buy cheap, sell high. Everyone does it. No one is forced to buy the games at $55, just like no one is forced to sell at $13. They do it for convenience.

I'm sure if you wanted the new Madden game and the 11 year old next door had it and got in trouble you wouldn't buy it from his mom for $13 if offered. Am I right? Are you really that principled? Somehow I doubt it. You'd probably ask about his other games while you were there.

It truly amazes me the kind of dishonest entitlement mentality from so many people around here. So, in your opinion, a company should operate solely to benefit it's customers, even at the expense of their profits? Sounds like the same BS logic being used to demonize Wall Street, banks and insurance companies.

Caveat Emptor (buyer beware) is a concept everyone needs to learn at some point in their lives, and it usually takes a hard lesson for it to sink in. Essentially, it means YOU are responsible for YOUR actions and the things YOU do. You don't like Gamestop's prices? Shop elsewhere. They exist to serve a market, and since they are fairly profitable doing so, I must assume their business model is right where it needs to be.

To the OP: Take the games back and explain the mistake. You may actually save the job of the kid that originally screwed-up the transaction. That alone would be enough to make me return the games.
