You can sell or trade them to someone who does. No doubt there will be those who buy or trade for these movies individually.

You'll be waiting longer than a few months.

I wouldn't expect the OT to get a release separate from the PT for at least a year, would hurt the sales of the initial set.

Amazing piece of news. This will be a day 1 purchase for me, even if it is the 1997 special editions. The whole "Han shot first/Greedo shot first" argument, is it really such a big deal? I really don't care as long as the transfers are as perfect as they can possibly be.

Amazing! Although, I'd of preferred if the prequels were in a separate box set, but nether the less, it's still a first day purchase for me!

YESSSSSSS,

No blu-ray release in 2011 will even come close to this.

Not to mention that nobody would buy the prequels on their own

-----------------

Personally, i never play my (complete) Star Wars DVD collection ever

The prequels are horrible, i can't decide which is worse out of jar jar binks and Hayden Christiansen, both are unbearable to watch, or maybe it's just the poor story telling and computer game style nonsense

and sadly the originals have been destroyed of their integrity

so i honestly can't see me rushing out to buy these on Blu-ray

This is some of the best news I've ever heard, finally all six films will be in one set and hopefully people will start seeing them as one big saga, rather than two seperate trilogies.

I don't care which editions will be in the set, anything will do me.

It looks like I might have to start saving now, because there'll likely be some Limited Edition set which will sell out fast if you don't get in quick.

We will only get the one version for now, the variants will be packaging and gifts with purchase.

Hopefully they are packaged in separate cases for each movie. Just want the OT. Completley psyched for this release!

I agree with you 100% here! I didn't like the prequels anywhere near as much as the OT, however I still have always wanted them in one big boxset Can't wait for some pics!!!

From thedigitalbits.com, the official press release:

Lucasfilm issued an official press release...here's the full text for you...

"FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, THE FORCE WILL BE WITH YOU ON BLU-RAY!

STAR WARS SAGA

Highly Anticipated Complete Star Wars™ Saga Readied for High Definition Blu-ray Debut

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (August 14, 2010) - Today at Star Wars Celebration V, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment announced that the complete Star Wars Saga will come to Blu-ray Disc with a worldwide release in Fall 2011. The Star Wars Blu-ray Box Set will feature all six live-action Star Wars feature films utilizing the highest possible picture and audio presentation, along with extensive special features - including documentaries, vintage behind-the-scenes moments, interviews, retrospectives and never-before-seen footage from the Lucasfilm archives.

"Blu-ray is the absolute best way to experience Star Wars at home - in pristine high definition," said George Lucas, creator of the Star Wars Saga. "The films have never looked or sounded better."

Excited much?!

Matt

Revenge of the Sith is f'ing cool. IMHO.

I'll be booking the week off work for this release, no BS.

Phantom Menace & Attack of the Clones will be viewed last...

Shouldn't you watch them 4-6 and 1-3 or 1-6?
