Default The Debt Review Thread (Use Spoiler Tags)

The Debt August 31, 2011

Quote:
The Debt is a 2011 drama-thriller film directed by John Madden based on a screenplay written by Matthew Vaughn, Jane Goldman and Peter Straughan.[1] The film is a remake of the 2007 Israeli film of the same name by Assaf Bernstein.[1] It stars Helen Mirren, Sam Worthington, Ciarán Hinds and Tom Wilkinson.

The espionage thriller begins in 1997, as shocking news reaches retired Mossad secret agents Rachel (Academy Award winner Helen Mirren) and Stefan (two-time Academy Award nominee Tom Wilkinson) about their former colleague David (Ciaran Hinds). All three have been venerated for decades by their country because of the mission that they undertook back in 1966, when the trio portrayed, respectively, by Jessica Chastain, Marton Csokas, and Sam Worthington tracked down Nazi war criminal Vogel (Jesper Christensen) in East Berlin. At great risk, and at considerable personal cost, the team's mission was accomplished - or was it? The suspense builds in and across two different time periods, with startling action and surprising revelations.

Originally scheduled for a December 2010 release, the release has been rescheduled to August 31, 2011

I thought it was excellent and while everyone in the movie is great, Jesper Christensen is flat-out amazing.

The Debt was another movie for me where in the beginning of my research, before I watched the film, I said to myself, yeah... that doesn't look so good. Then, I watched it... and said to myself, you're an idiot, that was suprisingly good.

I'll have to say that the beginning was a little scattered here and there, or better yet, all-over-the-place, as if the film fell to the floor but it didn't take long for this film to get back on it's feet and deliver a well told story.

Jesper Christensen was sickly-excellent... Sam Worthington and Marton Csokas were stylishly-good and Jessica Chastain, well, my chips are all in for her, she was extraordinary... BTW, loved her Oscar Dress And what can I say about Helen Mirren, Tom Wilkinson, and Ciarán Hinds other than

Watched this tonight. It's been awhile since I've seen it. Loved it just as much as the first time I watched it. The cast is fantastic with Hinds and Csokas always piquing my interest. I totally forgot that Jesper Christensen was in this so that was a pleasant surprise.
