Default Which Blu-Ray to Purchase? Which is better? Army of Darkness or The Evil Dead 1 or 2?

Which Blu-Ray to Purchase? Which is better? Army of Darkness or The Evil Dead 1 or Evil Dead 2?
BTW: These both would be blind-buys

I didn't look up the reviews for the technical merits..... but I tend to watch "Army of Darkness" on DVD much more than I watch "Evil Dead"

So that's my choice if I were to get one BD.

they are both different types of films yet lightly interconnected.

Evil dead is more true horror with some dark humor thrown in.

Army of Darkness is a comedy with some light horror elements thrown in. both are great in their own rights though. Comparing them is like comparing grapes and apples, both fruit yet don't taste alike

Just buy both, along with Evil Dead II.

If you haven't seen any of them then Start with the Evil Dead, then Evil Dead2 , Then Army of Darkness. They are storyline connected so watch them in order. AOD is the third in the series.

+1

It just depends on what mood you're in. Campbell's his badass wisecracking best in AoD, but a normal joe that survives to the end in ED.

Both have memorable scenes (ED - tree rape scene, AoD - Ash "saying" the magic words).

Both are great in their own right.

Get both for perfect happiness

Army of Darkness is the one I saw first, and what got me into the series. It remains my favorite.

My order of enjoyment;
ED2
AoD
ED

That said, it isn't required to see ED first or at all (although one should) as ED2 covers the same material and basically is just a higher budgeted remake of ED.

Same here, was so strange watching The Evil Dead for the first time having seen Army of Darkness so many times.

Should I buy all 3 tomorrow, or will 2 and 3 get rereleases?

Buy part one for now to see if you like what you got yourself into then go from there. Knowing its the Evil Dead series we are talking about, expect multiple re release in the years to come.

But Evil Dead is one of those series that hating one of them does not mean you will hate them all. Yes i say get them all but thats MHO.

Get all 3, and take a day and watch them back-to-back.

Like I said though, only thing holding me back is a possible re-release with better PQ and AQ of 2 and 3. Do you think there will be a re-release of these on Blu-Ray anytime soon?

There may or may not be but to be honest only ED2 needs the rerelease. I think Army Of Darkness looks pretty darn good and is worth buying now. As for ED2 i have seen it really cheap so it may be worth getting cheap now and maybe upgradeing in a year or 2 if a new one comes out.

I hate it when I buy a movie and a rerelease or better version is released soon after.

When I go to Fry's tomorrow, I'll get the first one and I'll get Rambo and if the Evil Dead 2 and 3 are for good prices, I'll get them as well, if not, then I'll wait, I guess.

An EDII re-release could happen, but it won't be anytime soon. Starz/Anchor Bay is concentrating more lately on new direct to video stuff and not catalog titles.

As for AOD, I don't anticipate a re-release anytime soon, if ever.

These are Evil Dead movies. As sure as the sun will rise, they will get many, many rereleases on the format.

That being said I think I would pick up Evil Dead. Evil Dead 2 and Army of darkness are not very good transfers. Evil Dead is getting better reviews in that department. Also the extra dvd disc full of special features is for a limited time.
