Or Park Chan-wook as he's sometimes listed. IMO he's one of the greatest living directors today, every movie I've seen of his I absolutely liked or loved. Not quite the level of Kubrick awesomeness but close!
Here's a summary of what I think of the movies I've seen of his. JSA (joint security area) was heartbreaking gave that a 9/10. Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance a slow moving, quirky and devastating movie about revenge and the consequences of such, 8.5/10. Oldboy fantastic style and a big wtf movie, I think it's pretty much perfect with it's controversial ending 9.5/10 or 10/10, not sure actually. Lady Vengeance it's been some years since I last saw it, but I can see I gave it 8/10 from my IMDb vote history, all I can remember is it affected me very much, I've got the Blu-ray so I'll fire it up soon. Thirst is the best vampire movie I've ever seen, I'm bumping my initial 9.5/10 rating to 10/10. This is an absolutely must see for you guys! Brilliant acting, cinematography and the camera work is some of the best I've seen honestly! I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK I haven't seen yet but I'm going to order it very soon, I'm pretty much 99% sure I'll like it as well, he's one of the few directors, I feel can do no wrong. I guess the point of this thread is so you guys can learn who he is, also please rate his movies. ![]() |

I've only see Oldboy and Thirst. Oldboy absolutely blew my mind. Thirst didn't have as strong of an impact on me, but I still thought it was a good film and a different take on the vampire mythos. Chan-wook Park is certainly an interesting filmmaker. Any ideas on what he's doing next?
