Default Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Thread

Tekken Producer Katsuhiro Harada made a special announcement at Super Battle Opera tonight. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 as been rumored off and on for a while, but now we know it is real, and we have a trailer to prove it. Here is some general information from SD Tekken:

"As everyone knows… The previously announced Street Fighter X TEKKEN and TEKKEN X Street Fighter titles are part of an overall “Fighting Game Festival.” But, the first title in the “festival” is announced today (at TOUGEKI)… TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2. Tentatively scheduled for a Summer 2011 arcade release in Japan.

TEKKEN fans are in for a real treat as the order of releases for games will be:

TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2

Street Fighter X TEKKEN

TEKKEN X Street Fighter

Today’s teaser trailer is in-game footage, not CG. It might look similar to TEKKEN 6, but the graphics engine has been tweaked/improved to support up to 4 characters on screen at once. The character models were redone from TEKKEN 6 moving onward to TTT2.

TTT2 will follow the same control scheme as the original Tekken Tag Tournament: One stick for movement and 5 action buttons. As seen in the teaser, there will be tag combos involving both characters tagging in and out-in succession to complete multi-hit combos/juggles. Walled stages remain and breakable walls/floors are still in the game. New mechanics and stage features will also be implemented. As seen in the trailer, there are some possible unique attacks depending on the character teams that are chosen (Ex. Jin & Asuka).

Several characters are featured in the trailer, but the character lineup will not be announced for some time."

Should be good. After watching that trailer..I wonder how they will do those tag combos without getting broken..

Funny I was playing Tekken Tag the other day wondering why they didn't make a new one.

More Tekken is ALWAYS good news. The Tekken X Street Fighter games don't interest me so this is great, I loved the original Tekken Tag.

I wanna get this so bad. The last Tekken game I played was the first Tekken Tag which was many moons ago, lol. Looks great, though!

I just bought this at Wal Mart and it's cool cause inside is a mini strategy guide and a code for a theme, which isn't the coolest, but I like it

No offence Blodiak, but I'd prefer someone other than you to respond to my question.

I suppose the PS3 version is the normal without any "official mods".

You just mean extra costumes and powerups? Or extra game mode as in past Tekken games? I want to know about the latter bc the last Tag had bowling and other games have had a beat em up, volleyball, etc..

Back in September, a player who managed to get their hands on an early copy of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 went through the contents of the game disc and reported that he found six additional characters on it, that weren't accessible in the game. Three of these characters are being released as free DLC tomorrow.

Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, November 13th, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be available as a download title via PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3. Along with the download version, Namco will also release three free DLC characters - Dr. Boskonovitch, Unknown and Violet.

Bosknovitch was last playable in Tekken 3, Unknown in the prior Tekken Tag Tournament game, and Violet in Tekken 4. Namco confirm that changes have been made to all three characters since their last appearances.

Additionally, the pre-order exclusive characters are now being released as DLC, too. Ancient Ogre, Angel, Michelle Chang and Kunimitsu will be made available to regular players, also for free.
The other 3 characters came in a patch for the game.

Well the 3 that became available in the patch have their own endings plus of course the pre-order exclusive characters. So I have no doubts on the other 3 characters will have their own endings as well.
