For Acoustic Audio, go to their Ebay store and make an offer. Some mebers have been able to pick up their 12" HD-SUB12 sub for less than $120. Others have been able to buy the 15" HD-SUB15 for $150. Parts Express also has some good options:

You can ask around, but most people will tell you that Polk subs, esp. the PSW series are not subs you would want to buy.

I think a better sub would be to get the Premier Acoustic PA-10 for $199, or the PA-120 or even the BIC PL200 for a good budget sub

I was under the impression that he wants to spend around $100. PA and BIC subs are twice the price of the Polk subwoofer.

Oh, well in that case I would say that since he also asked if the Polk Monitor 50s II and CS1 is any good, that I would take the $100 he wanted to spend on that sub, and get better speakers to begin with. Im sure if he got some PSB T45s from DMC-electronics, that would be a better investment then getting the Polk 50s and PSW 10.

My budget is $100 for the sub and $100 per speaker (with a total of 7 speakers and I have a thread in the speaker section asking about some Polk speakers).

It's an okay sub. I owned one, then a 2nd. But in the long run, (short actually), I found that it couldn't handle many hart-hitting scenes & would bottom out more than I was comfortable with. It's not Bad mind you, & for your budget of $100, it's decent. What else is out there for your $100 budget, I'm not sure. Though I Am sure others will prob. chime in with other possible suggestions. Good luck either way.

i have the psw10 and it is more than adequate! good bass, not boomy at all and for $100 i have to say it is a great sub that will serve you well, i am very happy with it, also remember though, room size and placement can drastically alter how subs can sound

My sub is in that price range, sounds great, better specs, same features (auto shut off and set your own cross over freq) and has a ton of great reviews on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-SKW204-R.../dp/B000HMLP5A

I have a black Polk PSW10. It was my first subwoofer and I absolutely love it. I would recommend it to anyone on a budget. As Moefiz said, it's definitely not the best but it can still get the job done.

I'm giving mine to my brother to start him off. I told him straight that it may be a cheaper subwoofer but I wouldn't give him junk to use.

Bottom line: Can you get a better subwoofer for more money? Of course! But for $100 (and sometimes I've seen Newegg go as low as $79 + free shipping) I don't think you'll get any better bang for the buck.

I do have one regret with my PSW10: I did not get it in Cherry.
