Default Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Sequel

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Getting Sequel
Game's composer reportedly let slip new game.

Madrid-based game developer MercurySteam just released their latest title Castlevania: Lords of Shadow last week, but the team is apparently hard at work on a sequel.

Eurogamer reports Oscar Araujo, who composed the soundtrack for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, told a Spanish radio station over the weekend a sequel is in development. "If you liked the first [game], hope that the second is even more spectacular," Araujo stated.

Konami has declined to comment on this report.

Wow, that was quick....

It would be cool if this game bridged into the Dracula/Alucard storyline, and how show how the Belmont lineage would go on for generations slaying them.

I doubt seeing Alucard in this series of games since this is a reboot. Definitely will have Dracula in possibly the next one going by the end of LOS.

But by reboot that doesn't mean anything "Castlevania" in previous games is banned from use. Case in point, there's a level called Verros Woods, which, if you remember, is an area in Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest. Also the use of the Belmont name, Combat Cross that's basically the swiss army knife of whips, holy water/dagger sub weapons, relics, etc.

I'm just saying that I hope Mercurysteam doesn't ever feel as if they've put themselves into a corner because they've called this a reboot and if they bring back familiar names/people/places people will cry bloody murder.

It might be a reboot, but it's a reboot on the same PC

They also use the Clock Tower theme from older Castlevania games in the Music Box puzzle as well, among other little nods to the previous games. They could use the Belmont name of course, but I don't see them reusing older plots like the one with Alucard, which I think is one of the worst character names in video game history. Just Dracula spelled backwards. They must have ran out of names. I just don't see him, Alucard, being used in future installments of this franchise. The only names I would think they will use is Dracula and Belmont.

They are still going to make 2D Castlevania games, they just aren't going to tie into one another.

Default Konami Producer Hints at Castlevania LOS Sequel

This is a little dated, but David Cox (producer at Konami) recently tweeted (actually early January 2012) a link to an article on CVG about titles that will define gaming this year. David enjoys tweeting about Castlevania, so based on his link, only one could assume that a sequel may be out by the end of the year. This was one of my favorite games that I have picked up on the PS3, so it was great to read about a sequel in the works. Click on the article in his tweet to judge for yourselves:
