Arrow Need Advice On Choosing A 5.1 HTIB System.

I'm selling my Logitech Z-5500 system. Never had any problems with it, but now is the time to get a "real" setup for my pc.

I'll pick the sound card myself. I'm not well-versed in home theater systems at all, so any help would be appreciated.

Primary use: listening to music, playing games and watching blu-rays.

I know buying separate components would be a better choice, but I'd like to get everything in just one shot.

I'd like to spend no more than $500-$600.

I narrowed it down to two choices. What do you think about these?:

Yamaha YHT-693 http://www.yamaha.com/yec/products/p...4&CTID=5000800

Denon DHT-591BA http://usa.denon.com/US/Product/Page...1-a9793a4a2e8d

I can't speak for the Yamaha, I am sure its a good choice hopefully someone here has it.

As for the Denon 591, I just bought it and I can not say enough how much I love it. The speakers and sub can get LOUD yet still maintain amazing sound quality. Input options are great and initial set up was easy enough. It comes with a nice calibration system although I haven't used it yet, coming from TV audio I have been blown away with the system right out of the box.

Plenty of inputs, etc.

But I will give you a list of some things to think about.

While initial set up is easy, calibration and changing of settings can be somewhat intimidating if you aren't familiar with AV equipment like myself. I'm reasonably tech savy, I build my own gaming rig without a hitch on my first attempt. But for some reason AV equipment scares the hell out of me.

The manual is very poorly written.

But any other problems I have had have been due to user error. I just wish the manual was written in a more user friendly form.

But despite all of this I have never looked back. For the price I do not think it can be beat.

Let me know if you have any more specific questions and I will help you as best as I can.

Well that was an easy setup (I'm sure I'll spend hours fine-tuning the settings though). I forgot to buy a hdmi cable so I'm using the optical for now.
