Warner going exclusive would be the death of HD-DVD. Universal has some great movies, but Warner is the one that could make all the difference.

Universal has a niceish catalog but when was their last megahit? Warner has many recent hits which are more important than old ones...
Of course, perception-wise the Universal thing could be a bigger blow, because it adds to the BD catalog... |

Well, of course, both would be wonderful but since we already get Warner titles (and they claim they won't be exclusive to anybody anytime soon) I have to vote for Uni. I not gonna lie and say there is nothing Uni has that interests me, because they have loads of titles that I would love to have on Blu. Particularly their catalog titles, they have some real classics.

Tough choice. I almost said neutral so as not to burn HD-DVD adopters. But the more companies who go blu-ray exclusive, the more the public will say that blu is the clear choice.
Was at Target today and the blu-ray selection was nearly stripped of the titles. HD-DVD faired better... but, probably because it doesn't sell as well. Same situation with Walmart. blu-ray movies almost all gone, but more HD-DVD. |

They might not be "MEGA HITS", but they do qualify as big hits and good movies as well. Universal releases lots of good small movies as well, the hits shouldn't be the only ones considered worthy of owning. Last edited by gvortex7; 09-01-2007 at 07:03 PM. |

I think Warner going exclusive would hurt HD DVD the most. Having said that, having Universal movies on Blu-ray would also be nice assuming Werner were to remain neutral in that scenario.
Ultimately, having access to the content you want is what matters the most. If either were to happen, it would be very good for Blu-ray. |

Warner has the top BDs and HD DVDs sales. Losing Warner would be a key loss for the HD DVD camp.
It would also most likely result in Universal going neutral, since HD DVD would be getting a death sentence. Either way I have a lot of patience and high confidence that all studios will release on BD eventually. I can even wait for 18 months for Paramount if I have to ![]() |
