Default the Nines

and what about this little film?

http://imdb.com/title/tt0810988/

there's a chance that it could come to blu-ray being that Sony has its hand in it. was wondering if anyone's heard of it or better yet....seen it? looks interesting...

havent heard anything about this one, but it looks intersesting. from the little bit that was on your link, it looks like it could be something like "magnolia" that came out a few years back. now that was a great movie...

So I'm curious, are you an operator in Oklahoma? Royalty owner? Ever been around Okmulgee?

Good to hear. My family has been in the business for a long time, although mainly we just manage royalties now.

Small world.

This great, underrated film is finally coming to Blu-ray. Sadly it's in a combo pack with Slipstream. I'd prefer to have it by itself. I'd still pick it up though depending on the transfer.

Did anyone pick up the Blu-ray yet? I got Anatomy coming and forgot that this one was out. Might just go ahead and get the German Blu-ray that came out last year.

It's MPEG-2 and DTS MA 5.1. Looks like an older HD master and undoubtedly could be improved with superior encoding, but it's still a decent upgrade on the DVD. Not great, but for $5 or whatever it's going for, it's not bad (no extras though)

I agree -- I'd have preferred it wasn't on a combo pack with the hideous SLIPSTREAM.

Of course Slipstream would have a better transfer than the movie I actually care about. Still haven't picked this up. Don't these releases usually end up in bargain bins at Dollar Tree or something? We have a new and improved Dollar Tree that I haven't been to since it opened. I'm curious if they have movies.

I bought the German Blu-ray of The Nines and the picture quality is nothing like the review of the U.S. Mill Creek release I just read. I'd easily give the German Blu 4-4.5/5 PQ.
On the downside, the German release comes with German on screen text, but that is only a minor annoyance. Great movie anyway.
